I figure if we get 5-6 catches a game from Kupp he's earning his pay.
And it’s almost equally important perhaps more doing everything else at the highest standard a pro can, blocking, route running away from the ball, spacing, elite football iq with an uncanny knack for clear accurate communication, leadership, consistency, etc. The guy will succeed in whatever he does let’s get him a ring as he deserves to wear and hire him to the staff in a few years.

Kupp is such a a class act as well. He’s literally like having a coach on the field. He’s been instrumental with elevating JSN’s game and approach. High-caliber coach and character on and off the field. We are lucky to have him and I for one think he’s worth every penny of his contract.

He’s fine except I think they paid him way too much money. Three years $45 million with a guarantee of $17.5 million all paid this year. His cap hit the next two years is roughly $18 million per season with salaries of $13 million and $14 million respectively. It’s almost certain he will not be here in year three.
On the surface, it might look that way, but he has made an impact on the WR room. That alone is hard to quantify to true value.

Agree 100%

There are videos of him talking football around and the guy is a savant. It's like listening to Greg Maddux talk pitching.

I fully expect Kupp (if this is what he desires) will become a coach after his playing days are done.

I didn't say one bad thing towards the guy at all just relax, I'm simply saying I believe we paid a little to much for him...

by definition, you are saying something bad about a guy if you claim we paid too much ;)

So lets be specific: what would he need to be doing, as the hawks 2/3 receiver, to justify his price in your opinion?

If I say I overpaid for a pair of jeans that doesn't mean I dislike the jeans, it just means I overpaid for the Jeans... 😂

He's have an of start to the year stats wize, but his age and the fact he's just getting older...

Well...normally when someone says "Damn. I overpaid for these" implies that a mistake was made in purchasing. 🤷‍♂️

So you can understand the confusion..

Because you mistakenly thought they were worth the price until you got them home and changed your mind.......:)

If you're using age as your reasoning, then lets just be honest, you didn't like the signing and never would regardless, Can't change his age

the guy is doing exactly what we brought him for.

Comparing Receiver Stats through Week 6:

1760382677175

JSN's ROI is incredible.
DK's ROI is horrible.

I’ll take JSN + Kupp over JSN + Metcalf 10 out of 10X.

Liked him when he was a Hawk but totally supported moving on. Opened up JSN and Kupp adds in other ways DK will never.

We have $21M in cap space still, so whatever we're paying Kupp is irrelevant.

Next year we can cut Kupp w/o a huge cap hit. I'm excited to see if Horton can grow into a solid WR2 by the end of the season.

Well. I wasn't a fan of singing a 31yr old WR with injury concerns you are correct on that one, You got me. But, that doesn't make me wrong one bit it just makes me think differently than you about things...

Kupp is the 20th highest paid WR for 2025. In theory if he's a #2 WR then he should be paid in the #33 - #64 WR pay range. If he's a #3 WR he should be paid in the #65 - #96 WR pay range. For comparison the 32nd highest paid WR is getting $10.7M this year.

We all understand that NFL pay doesn't work like that. There are a lot of underpaid players on rookie contracts. Everyone likes Kupp as a player and a person, and the Seahawks needed help at WR. Enjoy the year.

Understood

I’m just clarifying that you aren’t basing your angst on anything you’re seeing on the field, just your pre determined bias

Back on topic, he’s playing exactly as we’d hoped

WR intelligence, work ethic, blocking, Kupp is top 5 in all. Lost a step, but can still separate. Excellent hands and a role model for the younger players, including JSN.

Good value IMO.

2025 Top paid WR’s AAV that were acquired via trade or free agency:

Name Production Cost
DK Metcalf 19/356/4 33M
AJ Brown 25/274/1 32M
Tyreek Hill 21/265/1 30M
DJ Moore 19/215/1 27.5M
Calvin Ridley 16/290/0 23M
Davonte Adams 26/396/3 23M
Stefon Diggs 32/387/0 21.2M
Christian Kirk 10/109/0 18M
Deebo Samuel 34/315/3 17.5M
Jerry Jeudy 20/240/0 17.5M
Cooper Kupp 23/261/1 15M

I think this the best way to look at his contract and I wouldn’t call that overpaying. I’d say 4 WR’s on the list are out producing him on the field but his stats are right there with 2-5 on the list at around half the price. And that doesn’t factor in what he adds to the WR room like so many others have mentioned. I think he’s worth every penny.
