Cooper Kupp just got released by the Rams. He had $20 million coming next year so a trade was not going to happen.

You all know more than I do.

Should we try for him?

What do you think his market value us?

Is there room for him now after MSV was added?

Better to draft....?

I wouldn't want to pay him what he is probably asking for. If they could get him on the cheap, sure. Don't expect a full season from him though.

The reason the Rams had to cut Kupp is because he has a $29 million cap hit in 2025.

He is still going to get paid. Kupp will get a lot more than DeAndre Hopkins' $6 million per year, but less than Devante Adams' $23 million.

He didn't have a great year, but he still had 67 catches in 11 starts. Contrast that with Hopkins only having 56 catches with Mahomes as his QB or Tyler Lockett only having 49 catches in 17 games.

I think a number of teams, including the Patriots and Raiders will try to sign him. He would be a good fit in McDaniel's system in Miami or in Shanahan's offense, too.

So and old but more reliable and proven BOBO at 2nd/3rd depending on Scheme? I can get behind it at the right price

Yes. Darnold needs as many savvy pass catchers as he can get. You cant just measure the value of a Cooper Kupp on catches alone. The dude is another qb on the field and can help Sam immeasurably.

He is also the type of proven vet that can help mentor a guy like JSN. JSN just lost 2 guys (more Tyler than DK) who were guide posts for him and the way each left, though for different reasons, cant be having a positive effect on that position groups outlook. Say what you want about Geno, but i am sure that he and the wr group viewed the last few years the same way - not great - overperforming individually in an overall poorly run and staffed unit. You may disagree with that assessment, but i doubt the wr and te room is looking at what's going on right now and thinking 'yeah, we are good to go'. Getting Kupp would be a smart move to help steady the ship, help Sam's development, and mentor a very young WR group. And that is to say nothing for whatever wrinkles his knowledge of McVay's scheme can add to Kubiak's attack.

You absolutely kick the tires on him....

His cap hit is $17.8M ($10M base, $5.5M signing bonus, $2.3M restructure), I'd be willing to pay him $10M plus incentives.

The cap hit wasn't the reason. Kupp was due $20M, of which $5M was fully guaranteed. He's probably a $8.5M player at this point. Paying him the $7.5M roster bonus would have been pissing away $2.5M towards a $15M non-guaranteed contract that no team wanted. He can play, but he's no longer a down field game-changer who gets yards after the catch. He's probably good for 60 catches at 11 yards per reception, (if he can stay relatively healthy). At this point he's an older, slower version of JSN, which probably isn't what the Seahawks need.

He’s like having an additional coach. Excellent mentor. Personally, I hope he goes out of our division so I can continue to root for him.

One of those franchises kicking the tires on Kupp very well might be New England, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter specifically highlighted Mike Vrabel’s side when he gave an update on the accomplished pass-catcher Wednesday evening.

“Teams that bear watching here include the Seattle Seahawks, the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots, among others,” Schefter said on “SportsCenter.

I would not mind checking the price. I guess he is from Tacoma. Perhaps he wants to come home. He has been one hell of a good reciver, but unhealthy lately, and he is 31...

Seeing alot of hype regarding Kupp. Seems there will be some bidders. We have needs at receiver of course. I don't know our cap at this point.

Would love to have him here, but with that injury history, it's pretty risky. One hell of a player though.

He's from Yakima, played at Eastern.
We have never scouted our own backyard well.

I wouldn’t. We needed a veteran but we got one. One thats a better fit in MVS. If he will come cheap I would love it but I think there is a market where someone will pay him good money.

He’s from the area, grew up in Yakima. Went to Eastern. His parents are from Tacoma I believe. His whole family are Seahawks fans, except him.

If he comes really cheap I’d love it, I just don’t think he will.

Our able pro scout, Willi Schneider, said no. When a FA couldn't get an endorsement from Willi, John Schneider won't waste time looking at him.
