Is the rest of the playoffs gravy or do you still want more?

I refuse to be upset about the season regardless of what happens next week, a catastrophe aside.

I predicted 8-9 wins this year, with 'the possibility of something really special if everything clicks just right.' Midway through the season when it looked like I was right, I was less upset than others because I remained incredibly optimistic for our team's future.

I feel incredibly blessed to have seen the team morph into something so talented, so effective, and so promising that I honestly believe we can win the Super Bowl THIS year. Winning a road playoff game after an 11 win season and feeling like we are legitimate SB contenders (a sense of confidence I did not have in 2010, for instance) is more than I ever could have dreamed from this year.

Will I be really pissed if we lose? Probably. Especially if it's a frustrating game or the Hawks play like crap. Do I want to win next week? In an awful way. Of course I still want more.

But if the ride ends this weekend, I'll still think it was a damn good one and thank the Hawks for the memories and the bright, bright future ahead.

I don't want us to lose. I want a Super Bowl NOW. THIS YEAR.

But if we do lose, I'll still consider this season a success. Year 3 of the rebuild and we've definitely got a dynasty in the making. I remember when Pittsburgh had not seen a playoff game in their 40 year history. They finally make it. They win that first game on the Immaculate Reception. Then they lose to Miami the next week and it's over.

Except they went on to win 4 Super Bowls in 6 years. That season was the promise of greater things to come. A young, up and coming team that had the core of players locked up for years was just getting started.

I see that in this years Seahawks. So yeah, I want it all this year, but if we don't get it, I'm thinking the rest of this decade is going to be the most memorable in Seahawks history.

Hey everyone, I'm obviously a 49er fan, but I come in peace!

Little info, I love football, and while I hate many teams, I don't hate the Seahawks. I was so sick of the NFC West being terrible that I found myself rooting for all of us the past few years. Finally! Out of the basement! Also, my sister is a Seahawk fan and her mood is completely dependent upon how they perform.

Having said all that, I love the way you guys play, the way PC and Schneider have completely overturned the roster and played well in the process. I was cheering for the Seahawks yesterday, and expect them to beat Atlanta. Your team has struggled with power rushers(Niners too, this year), but Turner is a shell of his former self. I think with ET, Chancellor, Sherman(Good God he is amazing...and damn Harbaugh to the depths of Hell for not drafting his own player!!!), and Browner(Dude just scares me...big fella), you'll be able to corral the ATL passing game enough to take the win.

Once that happens(Assuming there are no further injuries), I can't help but think you easily have to be considered the favorite for the SB. Wilson is amazing, and you have tremendous depth with Lynch and Turbin(my draft crush this year...that was disappointing), and even with Flynn behind Wilson. As long as nothing goes severely wrong, I can absolutely envision a SB win for you guys. I think whoever gets to the SB from the NFC will take it this year.

One last note(I'm sure I'll be around later), there was some discussion on another thread from other fans about sound being piped in to Century Link...total BS(I'm sure you all know). I lost a bet to my sister a couple years ago so I took her to a Seahawk game...it's just that damn loud. I've been to a lot of games in a lot of stadiums, and I've never see better fans(polite, knowledgeable, and LOUD). Even the city is polite...amazing place, I have a ton of respect for the team and the fans. Anyways, if I don't come back for a while, good luck to you all, and no more injuries!

Wow. I don't hate you. This is rare. I wish I was the kind of person you are, but for the life of me, when I see the logo of a division rival it makes my skin crawl. It's cool to know that there are fans out there who are rational, so for that I salute you. Maybe someday I'll grow up, I just can't right now.

I wont be satisfied until we win the Super Bowl and this team has a real shot. So no the season isnt gravy with a loss next Sunday because ill feel like the team under achieved. Ill repeat, this is a Super Bowl caliber team THIS YEAR, dont have low expectations guys. We have already beaten (in my estimation) the best teams in football this year in the Packers, Patriots, and 49ers we can beat anyone.

Looking back to week 1, I'd say winning a playoff game would be a huge success.

Now, we can reasonably expect to win at least 1 more. So if we lose this weekend, I'll be satisfied with how far we came, but definitely disappointed we lost a game we have a shot at winning.

It is still gravy, sweet, succulent, coronary inducing gravy.

Obviously I want more, much, much, much more.

As far as pre-season expectations go yeah, I'm satisfied. But of course I would be completely okay with winning a few more playoff games since we're already here. Heck, I wouldn't even be all that disapointed if we won the championship. Let's say this round is gravy, but I could totally go for some cranberry sauce (NFCCG) and some stuffing (SB).
