The Holmy Hawks had like a 2-11 record with him reffing but this is a different era.

Shouldn't the first part of your sig say "pain is strength leaving the body"?

His crew is freaking awful on PI calls the most ticky-tack stuff is called. In terms of spotting the ball they are also just terrible at getting the right spots too.

At least this isn't a Fox game being called by "Kenny, Moose and Goose." When they call a Hochuli-officiated game they spend over half the broadcast commenting on Ed's muscles. As if the average fan wasn't already aware, and as if the game itself is incidental.

I actually usually like Hochuli. His crew has some bad flags but haven't been all one-sided against us in a few years.

Although I prefer officials be less ticky-tack and let the guys play, I'm ok with it as long as it's even and I think that generally speaking the seeming worst for lopsided calls is Carey so anything is better than that. As long as it's called the same all day, I really don't care

Hoch is a good ref, really good. He has made mistakes in the past (like all do) but owned up to them in retrospect.

According to Pro Football Reference, over the course of his career, home teams have won at exactly the same rate as league average, which suggests he tries hard to do a good job. He was broken up about that bad call he made a few years ago. The league knows all eyes are on this game. They've been getting some black eyes the last couple weeks. I bet they want this officiated cleanly.

He is my fav by far, his crew seems to always call a fair game.
Good. Neither the Saints nor the Seahawks seem to catch breaks from the NFL refs. So it makes sense they send an unbiased crew.

Ed Hochuli's crew is the players' favorite crew by a wide margin, from what I've read.

Hoc did the NFC '05 Championship game.....
So was he the one that picked up the flag for the illegal block in the back on Steve Smith's punt return "TD" when it was obvious to EVERYONE in the stadium that the penalty was legit and should've been called?

(yes I was there....the play happened right in front of me....and yes, I have a long memory LOL)

Hoc is looking small lately. In his 60's now. Getting old sucks.

Hochuli is good. Likable guy, and most of the time a good official. Steratore might be the best in the league right now so he's probably the one I'd choose, but Hochuli would easily have been one of my favorite backup choices.
