Bevell has made the most of one phenomenal year when he had Brett Favre to turn his lemons into lemonade. The dude is literally the reincarnation of Brian Billick when it comes to his acumen as a play caller.
Congrats he was successful with an offense that consisted of Brett Fabre Percy harvin and Adrian Peterson, I could've done that

thats my point. he's overrated. his reputation was established in large part after the huge season Minnesota had during Favre's first year.

Favre also had alot of Freedom and could audible alot. I still remember that Chicago game where the offense was just putrid and terrible and Favre wasnt audibiling and it was just terrible. He comes out second half and pisses off Childress because he was changing plays and doing alot more audibiling and they almost came back down huge. They were down 23-6 at one point in that game and almost game back and won the game. For the most part though Bevell drove me crazy and I was glad he was gone...although...I would take Bevell over Musgrave. Musgrave has no flipping idea what he is doing as a O Coordinator

i remember that game. the sad realization i'm coming to is that if Russ isnt given more control to audible when he sees something that might work to our advantage, we're going to be stuck with this hack of an OC and the type of underachieving performances we've been getting.

he isn't a hack, but I think he's very overrated and not a good play caller, u can be a good OC and not be a good play caller. I don't care how good his playcalling was in the first half, running a PA on 4th and 15 is unacceptable

He can't call a decent game and he can't design effective, more sophisticated plays. Even Marshall Faulk was commenting on the bland play design during the postgame show. He's becoming incredibly predictable and will cost us more wins if the d cant bail us out or is having an off day.

Bevell is capable of producing many a WTF moment, but he's not the problem. How many pro-bowlers did Bevell have on the field today? People are over-valuing this offense then getting disappointed.

This is a run oriented defensive football team. When the D can't get the opposition off the field and we don't have adequate run (or pass) blocking up front, we're not going to win every game.

Perhaps some of us need to temper our expectations. At least until we're somewhat healthy.

How about play calling on D? Some of that seemed pretty bad to me. To watch WTIII get consistently burned by Wayne wasn't fun. Seeing Wayne and Heyward-Bey both open in the corner was pretty embarrassing too.

We seem to suck in zone, and I think our D-line creates enough pressure for us to stay in man. Sure, Browner might get beat every now and then, but we saw last year that even when he loses his man and it appears we're about to concede a big gain, ET pops up out of nowhere to deflect/intercept the ball.

It seemed like we ran out of ideas yesterday on third down; maybe we should have swapped Earl for Thurmond in some of those situations. Then again, maybe we should just concede that Wayne's going to the HOF for a reason, and he showed us that yesterday.
