Well...

A63fal

This game had everything :

Defense....Turnovers...Touchdowns....Redemption...Special Teams mishaps (fortunately on the other team)......YOU NAME IT!!

This was an absolute gut-check game for this team.

If they lost this one, it would've made their Playoff chances just a bit more unlikely.

But that's NOT what happened.

Defense ONCE AGAIN holds the opponent to 17 points for the 2nd straight week.

Huge INT in the endzone by our Corner as well.

Leonard Williams and company gave Erin all sorts of fits (turning him into a pancake at some point, which pleased me greatly 'cause f*ck that douche).

Our Special Teams were SOLID (again) this week and I wonder if someone kidnapped Jay Harbaugh and replaced him with Jim or something. lol

But it was great to see the OTHER TEAM have ST mishaps instead of ours for a change and that led to A GIGANTIC Houlani TD that basically turned the game around in the Hawks favor.

The offense was VASTLY...VASTLY improved from last week's Bulls--t.

K9 had a crappy start again but KUDOS to Kubiak (for once) in sticking with him so he eventually started getting it going a bit, in particular in the 2nd half where he ran well and had that DAGGER of a TD Run that put the game away.

I thought he was washed. Well he must've read my DOT NET thread and said "F*ck you, Glen. I got your 'washed' over here, b*tch!" and I couldn't be happier to be wrong.

I hope this is the start of K9 kicking ass and taking names just so he can make fun of them while kicking ass.

The OL was solid (again) this week. Holes were open (that's what she said) and that enabled the running game (K9 in particular) to get it going.

Charbs was a bit quiet this week but that's okay since K9 was on like Donkey Kong (or whatever lame-ass rhyme I can come up with).

Grey Zabel was a beast and Charles Cross was solid.

Abe Lucas.....sigh...He's doing his best (I'll say that) but man it's a mixed bag with him, and that's all I'll say.

Sundell getting hurt sucked and hopefully it's not a long-term injury (I haven't read ANY of the reports yet as I'm typing this out) so Olu coming in in the 4th quarter of a tight game was certainly something....but him being there for the dagger K9 TD run was a very good sign.

And NOW...Sam Darnold.

Had a great opening drive and got Tory Horton involved, too. Loved that and was ecstatic with his TD pass to Tory even as Sam got absolutely UPPERCUTTED in the jaw (which should've been "illegal hands to the face"/roughing the passer that could've been called if Tory didn't catch the ball).

Also him utilizing Cooper Kupp more than he did last week is also VERY encouraging.

Sure, JSN was still the F'N SHOW but he at least had a Co-Star this time that Sam threw to.

Also, Darnold getting AJ Barner a TD PLUS giving Arroyo some action, too.

Far better ball distribution this week (without looking at the stats but only going off my Eye test and memory) from him.

OF course he had his Warts (he threw 2 picks where one of them was pretty bad in that he waited TOO LONG to throw the ball to Kupp and it got undercut and picked by Ramsey; the other one wasn't his fault as everything broke down and he was just trying to throw the ball away but the defender deflected the ball up and it was picked) but no QB is perfect. I'm just glad he brushed those two negative plays off and moved onto the next one.

Anyway, aside from that, he was pretty SOLID overall. Not as efficient as far as Completion percentage but still GOOD ENOUGH.

Oh and Sam was absolutely CLUTCH in two plays :

1.) The Houdini act where he escaped a sack in the 4th quarter on a 3rd and 9 while being backed up on the (I believe) 28 yard line(?) and managed to get it to AJ Barner for critical 3rd down conversion

2.) That absolute playaction BOMB to JSN. Justin Jefferson WHO? Jordan Addison WHO? Yeah f*ck right off to the haters!!!! Sam CAN play without those two.

Great win.

And it was a MUST-HAVE win.

I said that I wasn't expecting one this week but man was this win WELCOME or what, Hawks fans?

Thank F*cking god.

We are not having a hard time with pass protection and we can run. And we have a deep threat. I still wanna see way more commitment to the run. There is was a 2nd and 7 that we lined up in I formation and I really thought we were gonna run and instead it was a pass that sucked. I can’t wait till we have the confidence to run it on 2nd and long. The running game starting slow is part of being a patient powerful football team. It wasn’t that slow though, even early we were getting 6, 7 yard runs. By the 3rd quarter k9 was 10 for 60 something, and charbonet needs to be pounded, not sipped on like a Pinot…. Freaking pound him straight line up the middle. K9 is the bouncer, let Charbs be the hammer

Well, we do face Bosa again Week 18 - assuming he's not out hurt that is.
Yeah but I'm sure next time, he'll have HELP (aka they will double that knucklehead)

Maybe the reason we didn't run it on 2nd and 7 (i remember that play) was the effort not to become Predictable.

And I get the thought process but yeah..the throw sucked but that's probably the gameplan.

Overall, I'm glad that Kubiak left the Grubb plan back home and hopefully in a garbage can.

I want to be able to run when they know we are running

I don’t think he left the whole playbook, he kept the 4th and 1ish page

Well, it was a road game. That seems to be their specialty.
Well aren't we a ray of sunshine. ;) (but you're right, though. I want a home win, dammit!)

I do like our chances next week though against the Aints.

This. Going forward, opponents will have that on video and know that we will try to throw out of a running formation. Also, we had several running plays out of shotgun on "obvious" passing downs. We need to be somewhat unpredictable.

THIS. phenomenal awareness. Geno takes 15 yard sack on that play.

Speaking of Geno, Darnold went 2 of 3 in the Redzone today.

He's the Anti-Geno. LOL

Oh, and just for the record, I'm not so sure it was all that "wild." The only real wild point to me was the TD on the kickoff where the returner forgot the rules and Holani chased the ball down and scored. Other than that, it was just football. Good football, but not weird or wild. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe I should use the term "entertaining" instead?
