I never fully doubted Pete. Go ahead and search my message history if you want (parental guidance is advised).
I was always kind of in the middle. I loved Russ, and I thought it was going to hurt to lose him. But I never thought Pete was in over his head, and a lot of posts on this board were quite persuasive in pointing out Russ's limitations. So I was okay with moving on.
I did post before the season to not be surprised if Geno or Lock exceed expectations, because I always felt that Pete gets the most out of his quarterbacks, and many quarterbacks play their best under him. USC was a QB generating machine back in the day. And they were basically Alabama during those years, aka THE college football team everyone expected to dominate year in and year out.
To sum it up, my mentality was always "let it play out". Because as fans, we just really can't get a super accurate reading on these types of situations.
