Because there is no salary cap for coaches, Seahawks have deep pockets for their coaching staff. Why would an OC that's already in the playoffs come to Seattle?

No way in hell Geno is gone unless they want to downgrade to Howell.
I don't understand the logic behind getting rid of Geno at this point in time. That would be like quiting a job you don't like for a worse one with less pay with the hopes the one you want is available in 2 years
One can only hope that Geno will shown the door out of town. Talk about a knucklehead of a qb. Turn over machine in the red zone. It is time to start fresh
Not an established OC necessarily. Coming here would be a downgrade for a potential established OC. For the other offensive staff on those teams, however things are different. The Rams TE coach is a hot OC name, you can also snag passing game coordinators from playoff teams. Why would an OC that's already in the playoffs come to Seattle?
Well, if you get off on QB's being sacked, Howell is your man. The guy holds the football for an eternity and a half.Sam Howell? The favorite of GeNOs and anyone but Geno?
That is part of the game.
Cam Newton here breaking down the protection calls and adjustments that happen in a play design before the ball is snapped. A play is only a scaffolding, each play has something called sight adjustments.
Part of the DK routes issues could also be placed on Geno Smith. Either way there seems to be a problem with communication between the two.
My main point that I was making there is that you hardly ever see lateral moves at OC. The only time you usually see that is if the HC gets fired, or the HC themselves was the offensive mastermind and they have to take a downgrade. It’s hard to know how people will view this job. Lots of talented guys at the skill positions but a bad line a middle of the pack QB etc. will be interesting
I think I lean that way too. Want someone experienced. My main point that I was making there is that you hardly ever see lateral moves at OC. The only time you usually see that is if the HC gets fired, or the HC themselves was the offensive mastermind and they have to take a downgrade.
The targets for playoff teams would be your passing game coordinators, your TE coaches, maybe there is a hotshot QB coach you want to poach. Personally, I want experience above all else at this point. Reich, Schottenheimer (if McCarthy gets fired) McCarthy himself, Doug Pederson, Kevin Stefanski, etc, etc.
I think people are smart enough to know what bad quarterback play looks like. They just also know what a mid level QB play looks like too and that’s what Seattle has had. Look at the playoff teams. Every single guy had a better year than Geno and most are elite or near elite guys. Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, Lamar, Goff, Daniels. The next group are guy that also had great years Love, Baker, Darnold or guys who have done it before in Stafford, Russ. The rest Nix had a really good rookie year. Geno you could argue has a worse year than all of these guys. Now you can say that’s solely the line’s fault or Grubbs fault but I don’t think that’s true.People are spoiled. It's been so long since we had truly bad quarterback play (2011) that nobody here knows what it looks like, or has any memory of watching QB's throw receivers right into tackles, or refuse to throw to his outlet routes, or just miss horizontally every. Freakin'. Third. Down. Week. In. And. Week. Out. For. Four. Months. On. End.
I'm ready to let Calgary, James, Toffee, and the rest have their wish. Let the team ride with Jacoby Brissett or something for the sake of saving a little money. Let the stands at Lumen turn red every home game, let our blue chip talent go looking for greener pastures, let everyone enjoy a 59% completion rate every week for four months. All because some people gotta vent over a first-year head coach missing the playoffs. At ten wins.
Fortunately, I doubt that happens. We'll draft someone in '26, but for '25, it'll be Geno, if only because there simply are no alternatives that wouldn't equate to tanking. And if Mike can dredge up league-average protection and scheming, I suspect Geno will remain at this level at worst.
This and almost $40M cap hit if they cut himYou know what's really ******* stupid? Most of the people here defending Geno aren't high on him. We're just not so dumb as to think the alternatives people float here are better.
Yes, I'm talking about Lock.

Geno out-passed and out-comp%'d all but Mayfield and Goff, in some cases significantly. That does not happen while being mid.Look at the playoff teams. Some people are good with being mediocre and in the new NFL the Seahawks have been that for almost a decade. To become a team that competed you need an elite QB and many don’t think Geno is, he’s turning 35 and doesn’t have very long anyway.
I think you’re partially right, some people are a little too hard on Geno….but the idea that he’s elite is also a little off too to many.
Exactly where I am right now with everything. Geno isn't as bad of a QB as people are making him out to be. People that were chanting start Howell right when we were in the thick of the playoff race were delusional. Geno is the best we have, but that is also the point of frustration.I think people are smart enough to know what bad quarterback play looks like. This is a solid post but to counter a little. Darnold, Geno and Baker were all considered the Fields,Wilsons etc at one point too.People are calling for Zach Wilson and Justin Fields, so let's not pretend that everyone is just being perfectly reasonable here.
And for clarity's sake, I'm on record saying don't re-sign him. But that's not the debate here. People want him cut. Right now.

I trust my eyes. When Grubb spends the season deploying bush-league red zone concepts, tanking the run game, and camping Geno in shotgun all year with Laken Tomlinson getting blown ten yards off the ball every third down, I know what happened. No quarterback in the league has had to do more with less.
I'm plenty cynical. I know what a mediocre QB looks like, I know what one looks like when he's disguised until the playoffs by a strong supporting cast a la 2005 Matt Hasselbeck, I know what Geno looked like in previous years, and I'm happy to call it all out. This is not any of those cases.
You can call him "not quite elite" if you like, but if he were mediocre with THIS supporting cast, we'd have finished 5-12.
It's not an old joke if you haven't heard it before. I thought it was funny. He's just stealing an old Browns fan joke. It's literally 20+ years old.
