And, to top it all off they will probably change the name of the team to the SeaWeed.
Turns out it was the incense they use when meditating...

Enough sarcasm please. I think a big fat donut hole in 35 years gives any fan right to be pessimistic about this team or seattle sports in general. I love this team as much as anybody, but I think we've seen enough heartache in this town to know not to get excited too soon

I think when you throw up a post like this, you ought to thankful that people are being kind enough to use sarcasm. The alternative is that they would openly rip you a new one. I've seen it and it ain't pretty. Real talk.

I have a good feeling, so I guess that cancels your bad feeling out.

People need to take a deep breath and realize that this Browner suspension actually helps Seattle for the rest of the regular season. We were looking at rolling with maybe just 4 corners (while stashing an injured Browner) and against a team like the Saints, Giants, or Cardinals, that's not the best idea. With Browner off the roster, Seattle can run with 5 CBs and have a little bit of breathing room.

It would be nice to have Browner in the playoffs, but he's been basically an average corner this season, and it's very possible that Shead (who looked great in the preseason) could make up for Browner's absence if he's promoted.

Seattle was 4-0 without Browner last season (Thurmond was missing for a lot of those games too). You know why? They had the best offense in the NFL to close out the season. Anyone who's been paying attention has seen Seattle's offense taking off yet again in recent weeks as the OL is coming back and Harvin is making his debut.

Also, I don't see this as a distraction. I see it as adversity. A little adversity is a good thing for a 10-1 team that might be beginning to slip into complacency.

Good post kearly, and I agree with you. Russ and the offense will have to score some more points if the defense feels the effects of these situations. I think that's highly likely considering the return to health of the o-line and what I expect will be Percy busting out all over the place. And it's certainly possible the D won't have any kind of drop off based on what you said about losing Browner and Thurmond last year as well as an improved pass rush this season. And as most people know, a good pass rush makes a secondary much better.

Actually, this is only the beginning of the bad news. After several days of "random" drug tests, the entire team is suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy. All save Russell Wilson. We only finish 14-2 as a result.
Yep, he gunna throw the ball, and then run downfield and make the catch for many a touchdowns. WOOHOO!!

The voice of reason wins out again as kearly points out the facts.

Appreciate your post seahawksny, but I think you're way off. This team is built for the long run and has depth upon depth. Every time we have had DB problems in the past, it has been a blessing in disguise.

Up until this week the big question about our defensive backfield was "of Browner and Thurmond, who are we going to re-sign, and can we afford them?" I think the answer is "neither of them unless Thurmond comes dirt cheap." Pete and John have a knack for finding big, athletic corners who fit their preferred profile and coach them up to looking like ProBowlers.

I've said it a million times before, and I'll say it again, one of the main reasons our cornerbacks have looked so good is the type of defense we play, and the coaching they get. I honestly think that the cornerback position on Pete Carroll's team is for the most part plug and play. Whoever replaces Browner and Thurmond may not have the same level of success, but they will succeed, have no doubt of that.

For an example of this, look at Byron Maxwell's play in the last game, on the TD his hand missed blocking that pass by a hair. "Maxtor" was on his receiver like glue and will do well against the Saints.

Jeremy Lane is a speed demon and has a lot of practice tackling while playing special teams. If you watch the kick off coverage, he is almost always the first one down and there and usually by quite a margin.

Like kearly said, we've played without Browner and Thurmond before, and we've done well during that time. Since then, our DBs have gained a lot more experience. I predict that one of them gets an INT.

Got a feeling this could be big distraction tonight. Sherman hasn't looked same on d last couple weeks and we all know how quickly things change in this league. That being said, Niners looked good tonight. I hope this isn't a sign of us being 10-3 real soon.

Seriously?

Ahh... mention of the "donut hole". Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

There are trolls... then there are Niner trolls.

You see, the problem is that overall, the team is going to hardly be affected by any of the "catastrophic" (sarcasm) events. We know this.. been through much worse. The Sherman comment? He hasn't looked himself because of a TD?

But the real gleaming mistake in your attempt was to give mention to 35 years of "nothing". You see, that's only true to a Niner fan. It is the only argument they have in a Seahawks community. You see, young Niner fans have never experienced any real success, so rather than take pride in their own deal, they also need to lessen the quality of the others around them.

Nobody and I mean NOBODY thought the Niners looked good tonight except for Niner fans, Trent Dilfer and Steve Young. They beat Sister Mary's school for pregnant girls tonight. And they did it poorly.

All this bad karma...

Do we sign a veteran like Winfield or a distraction?

Look it's that Guy from that thing...

A distraction from what?

Browner was done for the season if not at least the regular. Thurmond is out for 4 games...

With Kam, ET and Sherman just HOW is this going to truly affect the results? I don't know, but I bet that all that playing time Max and Lane have lately is part of it.

We are a top contender with very few if any veteran leaders. Our team is young and struggling to dispel the notion that they are immature cheats.
I just think that times like this can be disheartening for fans and players alike. If Winfield signs I'm all for it. He's a wise and proven player with great leadership skills who plays the right way even at his ripe ole age. Trying out unproven younger players at this time of the season might not be impactful as signing a wise veteran with good leadership qualities like Winfield.

I remember some anxiety expressed in posts when Sherman started playing. We all see how that turned out. It is my expectation that Pete and JS have picked/developed some young guys that will have us soon forgetting about Browner and Thurmond. I always liked Browner playing the run, but man did he get burned a lot on coverage and I'd like to see a stat on how many pass interference penalties he's commited compared to other starting corners. I got to watch a lot of other teams while we have had the bye week. Boy, there are a lot of teams that are seriously injury depleted that might have a bad feeling. Look at the Patriots defense. Wow.

I have a great feeling. We played with this secondary last year for 4 games. How did we do? Oh that's right we destroyed 3 teams by over 100 points and then pulled out a meaningless nail biter in week 17 over the Rams. All we've done since is improve the D-line to be able to help even more in this situation, added another year of experience to the best young QB in the game and brought in an explosive playmaker in Percy Harvin.

RW ties rapistburger for most wins in first 2 seasons on MNF. Book it.
