They made their mistakes in the middle of the contest, but by then they had given themselves a nice
little cushion, so it didn't really matter.
Now they need to do this every week, regardless of the opponent.
Wilson would have thrown more had they needed it, but they didn't. This is how it is supposed to work.

Your a pretty smart dude I read a lot of your posts...
IMO It is just a progression of learning , continuity, and execution ... it takes a bit of time for the O to come together and gel... someone made a post about wins in quarters and you can see that that Hawks peak in the 3 and 4 quarter of the season this isn't by accident...it's just how it is designed by Carroll...
The Hawks still are not hitting their stride... for example they had great field position in the third quarter and didn't score the D is not getting takeaways like they used to.... this week was a fairly easy opponent as opposed to last week against the Saints that's a good football team.... I think the Hawks are going to struggle a bit in the next few games then they will hit their stride and be awesome...
Carroll is a great coach and Shotty is a great coordinator and the truth is they are still learning each other as well...
just my take

Normally I am a patient person and would go along with "It's a process", but this has been an obvious problem for years. It's nice to see them rollout a different script, centered around their dynamic QB at the start of the game for a change. Something they should be doing every week to give themselves the best chance to win. THUR night, if they can put the Rams in the hole early, Goff will turn it over, and it can snowball from there.
Edit#
That 3rd qtr lull was due to establishing the run come hell or high water. I'm fine with that up 3 scores.

Edit:This is a blurb from a Sando article
Since Wilson became a starter in 2012, nine teams have finished a season ranked among the top 20 percent in all three of the following categories:
run-heaviness on early downs in the first 28 minutes
explosive pass rate
fewest turnovers on plays from scrimmage
Five of those nine teams were Carroll-coached Seattle teams. The other four included Washington (2012), Minnesota (2015), Tennessee (2018) and Houston (2018). All nine had winning records. Two of the Seattle teams reached the Super Bowl.

So you would not be okay with being even more successful than we have been huh.

I think it’s rare. There’s a lot of young guys that are trying. We’ll watch and we’ll see what happens. We’re rooting for them and all that. I think he’s been a rare example of a guy who’s been clear in what he wanted to do and how he wanted to do it. Did not try to do it like other people in many ways. Had his own thoughts about it, which I totally admire. Now, as guys get started, it’s okay, you can get off to a good start. Then you’ve got to sustain. You’ve got to figure out how to adapt and all that. He’s in year three, so he’s working at it. Fortunately for him and his program, they’ve been operating at the top end of it. They’ve been winning and getting out in front of it and all that. Here they go again. I think it’s unusual. He’s opened the doors for a lot of young coaches which is great. A lot of guys are getting chances in hopes that they can pull off what he did. I don’t think it has to do with how old you are. I think it has to do more with who you are and what you’re all about, your experiences and all of that. Can you put it together? Can you hold it together? It’s hard. It’s hard to do this.” -- Pete Carroll

I am sorry my post requires you to read the whole thread and think. Let me help you, he alluded to how successful we have been as to why we should not criticize PC and be happy. I and others have been making the point that we could be even more successful, if PC did want good coaches do and adapt.
Not surprised at Bobby's numbers. Eye test this year has told me his performance has been down a bit.Fade":wl34uyvl said:Tical21":wl34uyvl said:Our MLB is our best player, and it isn't close.

Yeah, he really tore it up on Sunday.
Wagner needs to play better.
Wilson could be putting up even better numbers if allowed, which is a scary thought.
Only 2 QBs have 10 total TDs and 0 INT.
Mahomes
Wilson
That is it.

No one is arguing we should never run only that Russ is so efficient that we should probably capitalize on that a little earlier in games and in the long run it would actually help the run game become more efficient in the process. I like Pete's approach I've just argued forever he's a little too conservative and he does hold back the offense at times. I think if you were sitting down with Schott or Bevell and drinking beer they would say the same thing.
LoneHawkFan":2j9n31fu said:Within the context of this thread specifically, it seems that the main difference between the opinions merely hinges on the concept of "relative".
Yes, with Russel at the helm, we win nearly all of our games. Thanks Pete! BUT I believe that what Fade, et al. are saying is that WE COULD BE EVEN BETTER. Which I agree with. Pete is a great head coach- but he put together an historic defense with which probably at least half of today's coaches could have coached to Super Bowl victory. Yes, he put it together- PROPS- it was an awesome job, but right now we don't have the luxury of having a defense that will hold on to almost any lead they're given. On the contrary, we have a defense that gives up yards like they're incentivised to do so!
Russell could lead any team in the NFL right now to an 8-8 record. Put him on the 'Phins and they go 8-8. I believe he's been at that level since 2013. So...why shouldn't people be concerned that we're only going 9-7, 10-6 in each of the past 4 seasons? They have every right to be concerned! How are all of you so sure we maxed out our potential? How do you know we couldn't have gone 12-4 last year with a few different "gameplans" along the way? Why did we only have 202 yds passing in a game we lost at home by more than a touchdown? A game we are down by 9 at halftime? How the hell do we let the Chargers come in and beat us?
The OP, to me, says now that we don't have that historic defense, we need to lean on our best player MORE THAN PETE's PHILOSOPHY normally dictates. Which is what we did against Arizona.
Yes, we're 3-1, AWESOME! but we should be 4-0 and in the driver's seat for HFA. Hey, relative to other teams and to our past, hell yes we should be happy with what we have. I am happy! But that's different than being content. As soon as you become content, its over- the fans that have become content are ok with a title 6 years ago and a playoff birth every year. Which is fine, but some want more. And we can be better than we are. We could have done better the past 4 years.
I guarantee Russ isn't content with one title. Fade isn't content with that. Why should anyone be when we have one of the best QBs in the league? In our history? We should be 4-0 right now and should be scoring no less than 3 TDs a game on offense with our current roster. We just scored two against the worst defense in the league at AZ.
