Did Schiano have the Bucs targeting Wilson for injury?

This is who Schiano is. His entire personality is geared around one person, himself. Nobody else matters to him, not his players or anyone else.

Listen to him speak some time, it is obvious. He actually reminds me of Mora, but with a viscous side. Mora is just an idiot who thinks he is something he is not.

There is no doubt in my mind that this was the plan of the Bucs. Perhaps not to injure the guy since this is something which can end your career --if as a head coach you tell your defense to straight up injure someone. What most likely happened, as others have said, the coach said: I want you to let him know we are here, I don't care about flags, go after Wilson, it's the only way we can win. We must get into his head and let him know there is punishment punishment and more punishment.

I can't say that I disagree with this much to be honest. I hate it that it was against OUR guy, but I would do the same if I were in his position. You have to hit the QB, to punish him and let him know if he wants to sit in the pocket, he is going to take hits.

On the other side, it is OUR SIDES JOB to protect the man. If he is taking late hits, it's our offensive lines duty to get in there and defend him after the play. Get in the defensive lines face and push him around. Let the refs know that this is serious and force the refs to give your QB some more protection.

And to be honest, I think the refs did as much as they could in throwing flags. They flagged Tampa plenty of times. If I have a question regarding the refs, it must be their inconsistant calls regarding pass interference.

I disagree. They missed the linebacker who took a shot at Wilson's knee, AKA the brady rule.

Really, it's something that exists throughout the league and within every team. Is it really surprising that there are tons of injuries in a league where basically everybody is trying to injure everybody else on every play? We as fans demand a pretty high level of brutality. I like a clean, hard hit as much as the next fan, but over the years, I've really grown a bit tired of the endless stream of cheapos and extra business that goes on every down.

A point of emphasis on rebuilding a culture of sportsmanship, toughness and respect for both game and opponent would really serve the NFL, IMO.

Schiano is not the only coach who targets players. Tony Dungy taught his D-line to go for QB's legs in order to give them happy feet.

Wilson's head was targeted throughout the games, and Tampa had a clear plan to go after Wilson no matter what. I think the Bucs defensive game plan was to knock Wilson out of the game regardless of the laundry accrued. On the head shots he took, there was not even the semblance of trying to lower the target zone, and the McCoy and Casillas fouls were clearly the guy using his helmet to add force to the hit.

In 2008, a Schiano led Rutgers team faced off against Russell Wilson and the Wolfpack in the Papa Johns Bowl. Wilson shredded Rutgers before being knocked out of the game. Wilson's replacements threw 3 interceptions and the pack lost 29-23 to Rutgers.

I think we better get used to this type of game plan from opposing teams.
I think that the Team Owners need to prod NoGoodel to take control of this bullshit play, just like the League did against the Saints for utilizing their "bounty" system a couple Years back.
Maybe when a player gets ejected from games for a 4 or 5 game stint, and the Coaches be handed some of the penalty by having to cough up some money for encouraging his players to participate in that bullshit.
IF anyone thinks that taking a player out for 4 or 5 weeks for doing this crap is too extreme, just consider that they think NOTHING of suspending a player for 4 games for the use of restricted drugs.

If any coach would be this dirty, it would be Schiano.

The League needs to put a big hit on Schiano by fining his ass for half his Yearly paycheck, for Coaching up his players to do cheap shit like that.
IF they don't do something to this douche bag, then they are no damned better than he is.
Don't think they can't do it, because they took Saints HC Payton to the woodshed for an ass whoopn'.

ironicaly this season QB's who have been identified as running threats have a target on their back most often when they are not running. Also one of the articles I read this morning actually said that the bucs brought it to the officials attention before the game that Russell's hight wasn't fair becasue it made it imposible to avoid hitting him in the head. I wasn't at this workstation but I'll see if I can find the article and link it from home. It wasn't clear if the player was serious or joking.

Really? I guess the whole "league conspiracy" about how many 10am starts you got didn't work out so you come up with this one.

I am an NC State fan and watched that game. You can't compare the two items - sorry doesn't happen. RW ran more of a wildcat type pitch offense at the time. He was already out for several games of his freshman season and the hit he took was on such a play where he was tackled as a RB. It was a fair play. It is probably what changed the NC State offensive game plan for year 2 in making RW much more of a pocket passer

Yesterday - yes I do think they went after RW. Look at the second to last play. There was the time-out by TB then they maul them after the knee. Granted RW didn't make it very clear, the line didn't push forward enough and the refs should have blown the whistle properly. Reminded me of Wisconsin football which cost them a game this year..........BUT any other team that is not an issue at the end of the game

I do think the league gives the Niners the "rockstar" treatment when it comes to east coast starts, and other aspects of scheduling. That has nothing to do with what seems (to me as well) a deliberate game plan on the part of the Bucs to take Wilson out of the game by injury. I note that when Schiano coached at Rutgers and had a bowl game against NC State, he used EXACTLY the same strategy to win that bowl game....because Wilson tore his team to pieces until he was forced out of the game.

Man, if Kaepernick was out there getting lit up like Wilson was and barely any flags were being thrown even on blatantly late hits, you'd be bitching about it too.

Actually it was clear enought that the linejudge anbd sidejudge both whistled the play dead, and replay clearly shows a deliberate kneeldown and Wilson looking right at the Official with a "why aren't you blowing the whistle look".

I have very little regard for Carey. Enough said. I think if NFL Officials could rework their uniforms to resemble those of 19th century field marshals, that man would be all over it.

I guess it's just coincidence that two of our line starters (pro bowl C and team captain DT; positions that are about the least likely for concussions) are being treated for such.

What a scumbag. I guess Hardouche in San Fran isnt the only scumbag coach in the NFL with questionable morals.
