I can’t believe we still have to debate this.

The FO does not care about winning. Hence the payroll. Not going after any free agents. The only reason they got Arozarena was because we gave up absolutely nothing. The team is cheap in every way. Money, prospects, you name it. The reason they didn’t add another impact bat was probably because they didn’t want to trade any of the big name prospects.

Only chance we win a WS is if we luck into it. We’d basically need to hit on all our prospects while they’re young before we pay them.

My point is, it doesn’t matter who the manager is. It doesn’t matter if Raley or Garver hit last night. Until the FO actually cared about it winning, our ceiling is basically a wild card team. The only reason winning the division is possible is because how awful it is.

I'm guessing you mean ownership, if so, I couldn't agree more.

This franchise is never going to do anything against the teams that are willing to spend whatever it takes to be legit WS contenders unless they drastically overachieve and get exceptionally fortunate. But rest assured, they will never, ever give themselves the best chance to win by building the best team reasonably possible regardless of cost. Ownership just isn't willing to spend what it takes to do that.

Highlighted - We have the pitching and D to go all the way but not enough hitters.
I've said it before, the hitters are going to coming up from the minors together.
A few are at Everett right now but yes it's a year out roughly but if we can get another
hitter this season with JRod coming back soon, I think we can make a big run.
Do not forget teams can still make trades through waivers btw.

We have the starting pitching for sure, but we no longer have the elite BP that M's fans have become accustomed to. Their overall numbers look good, but certainly not great, and much like last night, they have developed a habit of letting small late game deficits become bigger late game deficits. The D is bottom 10 in MLB by fielding %.

As it stands right now, and this has been the case this whole season, we have elite SP, a flawed but statically overall good BP that has a tendency of giving up runs when they can least afford to do so, a bad defense, and one of the worst offenses in MLB.

I wish I shared your optimism, but I just don't see a big run from this team, this season unless 5 or 6 guys in the lineup get really hot and stay hot through October. Not impossible, but certainly doesn't seem very likely to me.

Yeah, I hardly ever see Servais getting blamed for anything. 😆 :ROFLMAO:
That's hilarious, man. Thanks for the laugh.

Right on. Like I said, I'm down for that at this point. Clean house from Servais all the way down through the entire coaching staff.

But also like I said, I think you're probably going to see similar results unless you get better players.

Does anyone really believe the lineup Servais had to work with the vast majority of the season would be significantly better if only they had a different manager and coaches?

Does anyone really believe that teams like the O's, Yankees, Dodgers, Royals, etc. have offenses that are so much better than ours merely due to having a superior manager and coaches? Or could it be that the reason they're so much better is that they simply have much better players?

I know, I know, "it's both" is the easy cop out, but what do you think is the biggest factor?
I meant in general about baseball managers getting blamed less. Sports media goes loco over NBA and NFL coaches. MLB is just as important it's just that it's a different kind of game. Yep the answer is both. They are 2 different true things. If you have a crappy line up you aren't going to the playoffs most likely regardless of the manager, and regardless of the line up could be any team, a good manager and set of coaches is going to lose you 5-10 games LESS per season. Managers in baseball blow games with their moves all the time it's about limiting them as much as possible (pitchers usually get the blame if they can't locate or throw cheese down the middle). I'd love Kevin Cash here he has more playoff appearances than everyone on the M's coaching staff combined he's creative and got suspended for trash talk against the Yanks. Looks like he's staying in TB though.

Yeah man, I know it's both. I specifically said so. What I asked was,

1. Does anyone really believe the lineup Servais had to work with the vast majority of the season would be significantly better if only they had a different manager and coaches?

2. Does anyone really believe that teams like the O's, Yankees, Dodgers, Royals, etc. have offenses that are so much better than ours merely due to having a superior manager and coaches? Or could it be that the reason they're so much better is that they simply have much better players?

It does matter who the manager is, a good option would be a successful minor league or college coach a good example is the Brewers manager Pat Murphy the Brewers were expected to finish at the bottom of their division due to the amount of young players Murphy has them playing very well and in 1st place with a record of 65-49

Anyone tired of the WORST FRANCHISE in the Major leagues since they entered them? Suckers paying good money to watch a lousy team. Some of the players are good, the FO, owners et al.... are like the Pittsburg teams of yore, or the Indians with Charlie Sheen...

Not really sure what else to say. If you really think Servais should have left Raley, a guy hitting .056 against lefties for over a month now, in the game in that situation because he had a big hit against a righty earlier in the game, then cool. That seems nuts to me, but you're entitled to your opinion.
Servais could have had another pinch hitter instead of Garver, or was there no other option.

It seems people are a bit defensive of my video which was based on my question. As well as the article.

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine there were probably other options. But were there better options? Even if there were other options, they were almost certainly "end of the bench" guys like Vosler or Locklear. I think a better question would be, were there any good options, or were all of the available options pretty bad ones in that situation?

Not trying to be rude or defensive, I'm just giving you my opinion on that video, and that article didn't appear to be saying anything different than the video.

Look at what's going on tonight, because this is exactly what I'm talking about, and is very similar to many of their losses this year. Servais has a very good SP on the mound tonight in Woo. Woo gave up 3 runs to one of the worst offenses in baseball. Servais also has all of his best available options in the lineup tonight. They have 1 run on 2 hits. What is Servais supposed to do here?

Yep. That's gonna improve his .056 BA against lefties since June a smidge.

Do you know what hand the pitchers that gave up the hits to Garver both yesterday and today throw with?

Shout out to the Tigers right fielder for letting the ball get past him. Literally the only thing you absolutely cannot do in that situation. Literally cost them the game. No coaching going on in Detroit.

Relax it was just an ironically funny observation, Raley sucks vs. lefties and Garver just sucks.

Who goes when JRod is activated?
You got Bliss,Moore,Rivas and Garver to choose from.

I really want the Ms to pull off one more trade for a good hitter
to subtract 2 more of the guys I listed.
