Hey, that Rian Lindell is pretty solid. Oh no, wait, why did we let him go? All is lost!
Oh, Josh Brown. He's pretty good, I guess.
...
Ugh, I can't believe Josh Brown left in FA! What a tool! What are we gonna do now?
Oh, Olindo Mare? He sucks!
Oh, actually, he's been pretty good.
...
WTF?! Why didn't we match Carolina for Olindo Mare?! He's been so good here!
What? WTF is a "Hauschka"?!?! This is terrible!
Oh, hey, he's been pretty consistent for us, and his range is getting better.
...
And thus the cycle of life continues...
I feel like this might be a good reason to lock up Haushcka here. We've had too many good kickers in a row. It's only a matter of time until the next guy we bring in is a Billy Cundiff.
You're missing the point. If we let Hauschka go, we won't just bring in a guy. We'll bring in 4 guys, and let them battle it out. And the most consistent guy will get the gig. No Cundiff necessary. And it's likely that new guy will give us about the same production we've had over the last decade.
And if he doesn't, for whatever reason. We cut him and bring in another guy.
Again, I like Hauschka, and if he'll agree to a long-term deal at a reasonable price point, I say lock him up. If not, let him walk.
