Here is my stab at my first mock of the off-season pre-Senior Bowl.
1st Round: (#18)
2nd Round: (#50)
3rd Round: (#82)
4th Round: (#136)
5th Round: (#171)
6th Round: (#183)
1st Round: (#18)
- Selection: Donovan Jackson: OT/G (Ohio State): 6'4: 320 lbs: I think there is going to be a huge run of OTs in the first round. Teams are that desperate for tackles. Kelvin Banks, Will Campbell, Josh Conerly, Josh Simmons, Armand Membou. I'm rolling with Donovan Jackson for his versatility, how polish he is, and how immediate he can impact the O-line. He has an ideal size for a guard with great arm length. Big and can move dudes. Has the power and feet to be a guard or tackle. Can be used in a gap or zone scheme. He still protects you if Lucas or Cross is out or ineffective. He reportedly can run a 10-yard split in the high 1.50s. He can offer a lot of attitude and meanness to the line. He isn't a true OT so that might keep him from being highly regarded as some of the other prospects.
2nd Round: (#50)
- Selection: Jordan Burch: Edge (Oregon): 6'4: 290 lbs: I watched Jordan Burch and he jumps off of the screen. He really is 290lbs and he really can move like that. A former RB and WR and it shows. A little bit of a late-bloomer as it all came together this season at Oregon. He reportedly has been clocked at 21 mph at nearly 300lbs. Why do we need an Edge? Nwosu might not be back and D. Jones will probably be cut. I think Mac really wants a bigger edge in his defense. Burch has been known to set the edge and be explosive stopping the run. Really he can play anywhere on the line. He wins with power and still needs to polish his pass moves. Between Jackson and Burch -- you've just added a lot of attitude and tenacity. Another D-linemen I really like watching is Ty Robinson from Nebraska. He is mean as hell. Motor is red hot all of the time and is always pushing a pile. *Go to the .35 Mark on the clip and Burch is running a fake punt. Dude is moving.
3rd Round: (#82)
- Selection: Jalen Royals WR (Utah State): 6'0: 205 lbs: He's going to be at the Senior Bowl. He's a fast and explosive WR. Known for his contested catch ability, route running, and YAC. As much as people want to seek another Tyler Lockett clone -- I don't. I love Tyler but I'm looking for a mean catching machine. Royals has a compact build and can run through arm tackles. I think he's going to have to learn to win against press. We'll see how he does at the Senior Bowl during 1 on 1s. However, I think installing him as a Y-WR or Z-WR and you'll have something. Keep him off the press and he's going to fly. He's coming off a season ending injury so he might go under the radar.
4th Round: (#136)
- Selection: Seth Henigan QB (Memphis): 6'3: 215 lbs: If the Seahawks are going to hire one of Kubiak or Udinski then they will likely run some form of the Shanahan/McVay offense. You're going to need an efficient QB that operates from the pocket. Added mobility is a bonus. Seth Henigan checks off a lot of boxes. He doesn't have a monster arm but throws a pretty deep ball. He can get out of the pocket and pick up a first down. He doesn't have the best pocket elusiveness. However, he played a lot of ball. A 4 year starter at Memphis. Clean mechanics and for the most part good footwork. He has shown he can work through the whole field and through multiple reads. I think he's a good candidate to sit behind a QB for a couple of seasons.
5th Round: (#171)
- Selection: Jackson Hawes TE (Georgia Tech): 6'4: 241 lbs: Again, if the team is planning to hire one of Kubiak or Udinski then I think there will be an emphasis on 12 and 13 personnel. You're going to need TEs that are good in the run game. Barner struggled at times with blocking last season but that's what he's known for. Hawes comes from a school that primarily runs. He has blocked for everything you can imagine -- zone, gap, option. Everything. He's not a fast dude but he'll make the catch over the middle but that doesn't matter that much, we are going to use him in the run game. He's one of the better run blocking TEs in this draft class. Kubiak used a FB with the Saints last season. Hawes can be that FB. He's cheaper and probably better than Pharaoh Brown.
6th Round: (#183)
- Selection: Cam Skattebo RB (Arizona State): 5'11: 215 lbs: He runs with a very low center of gravity and he's a load to bring down. He isn't that fast but he can get chunk yards. He has reliable hands. Dude is just the Tim Tebow of RBs. Complete try-hard that people grow to love. I'll take a shot at him. The RB class is so loaded that the Hawks are going to take one at some point even though they have 3 on the roster.

- Selection: Trikweze Bridges CB/SAF (Florida): 6'2: 200 lbs: Really big CB and has versatility being a safety as well. Florida used him everywhere. That is going to really appeal to Mac. He has good speed and wants to hit dudes from the CB position. He started to play CB more for Florida during its last 4 games of the season and more than held his own. He excelled. Not many clips of him online...
- Selection: Jack Kiser LB (Notre Dame): 6'2: 231 lbs: He's the classic try-hard MLB on a good team. Not the fastest. Not the biggest. Good instincts and usually gets the job done. The captain for the Notre Dame defense. The Seahawks can use some depth at the LB position.
