You need to get your facts straight. Doug is a RFA next year and Sherman is under contract. Both are virtually guaranteed to be back next year. I also disagree with basically everything else you said in your post, but eh, this is a Bruce Irvin thread.

idk a lot about managing a football team, but i feel comfortable saying sherms contract wont come down to a difference of a million or so dollars (the savings from irvin). I expect sherm and dougie to be gone next year, just not worth the return youll be getting in context of what you have the ability to replace them with. Neither of those guys will be taking a home town discount imo, baldwin wants to be the best and he wont have the opportunity to do so in our system. Sherm wants to be revered as the top guy in the league, which hopefully we wont be willing to pay him like so. i really like both guys, but baldwin is severely overrated on this site, and sherman is a SLIGHT product of our coaching brilliance. i know many of you will disagree, but no matter how many guys in our secondary go down, we still shut down elite offenses...you do the math. Enjoy this season for the here and now fellas.

The bit about Baldwin is ludicrous. The guy makes toe tapping side line catches and huge 3rd down converting plays look easy. I call him Mr. Reliable because he always comes through in the clutch.

Aside from what was mentioned above, Sherman isn't going anywhere. He is signed through 2014. In 2015 he can be Franchised. He can choose to sign a new deal with the hawks (maybe something like 5 yr 60m) bumping his 2014 salary up and avoiding the franchise tag in 2015 or he can hope that he makes it through 2014 making under $700k and through 2015 making the franchise tag $$ amount without getting injured or losing any of his skills so that some other team wants to give him a better deal than that.

If he resigns for 5 yr 60m with Seattle taking effect in 2014, it's the equivalent of a much bigger deal somewhere else. That 12m he'd be making in 2014 means it's an extra $11m+ over what he'd get if he signed the same deal with another team.
