Anyone catch the Councilmember Sally Bagshaw interview on KJR?

She sounds like she would like this deal to get done, and a 'partnership' with Chris Hansen, but wow is she critical of the deal. She said the deal on the table is not the deal they sign, she said you never sign the first offer. Which leads me to believe there will be some tweaking by the city if this thing ever goes through.

She also mentioned Key Arena again, she said that using the Key is a possibility.... NO!! AAAHHH!

She said Hansen wants to use his land, for his profit, and the city wants to (potentially) use the Key, because its their land and the tax payers land. And she said what a benefit that would be to have people riding the monorail to the center, blah blah blah. Jesus..... did we just get in a time machine and go back 30 years?

PS She also mentioned she wants to 'stand up to the NBA'..... oh no.....

PS She said sometimes gifts like this could be trojan horses. WTF

I just called and seriously vented. Very nice gal on the other end. No ill will toward her. Just wanted to pass along my disappointment of Bagshaw’s handling of this issue. She’s making this personal. She doesn’t have the city’s best interest at heart. She has ulterior and political motives. She isn’t going to save Seattle Center. She’s going to drive an arena out of Seattle and over to the Eastside. I encourage you to call and let the nice girl who answers her phones know you feel the same.

The new arena will be on the taxpayer's land when all is said and done.

I don't understand the delusions of Key Arena returning to prominence. It loses out on big shows to the Tacoma Dome. The Tacoma Dome.

It's shocking the key arena according to her is still in play. Unreal.... and the monorail? Really?

It's an antique novelty for tourist (or in my case, my 7 year old loves it), it breaks down constantly. And when you ride on it, and see it up close, its a miracle its even moving, the thing looks way older than its 50 years.

The monorail is no substitute for the Sound Transit train, the brand new light rail, I-5, I-90 and the ferries.

Damn Bagshaw, get a grip you crazy ol' bag.

Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, Slick Watts, Detlef Schrempf, The Presidents of the United States of America, Sir-Mix-A-Lot. What a line up! If you are in the area and can possibly attend. DO SO!

how the bleep can the nba turn that down if they do they are just morons and that is the clean version.

Its not the NBA we're worried about, its the city council.

Unfortunately Throw you hit the nail on the head. Its all in the City Council's hands now........

But man, this deal couldn't be any sweeter for the City and County. And man are those investors heavy hitters!

If you contact Bagshaw, make sure to emphasize that the way she is handling this is what costs people in her shoes their office. Losing votes will be the biggest factor when it comes to changing her mind. If they don't want to have an honest discussion, then we need to start making the discussion about them getting voted out due to said lack of honesty.

She is an idiot, they want something viable downtown and want to have the We told you so arguement. They are also wanting to garner votes from the Queen Anne residential business area who lost out major when the Sonics left.

Now the otherside of the coin, Balmer, Hansen, the Nordstroms all make political contributions do they not?

The city has the future and these guys are going to build a area that brings in a lot of revenue in taxes etc just in new businesses in the area as well as updating a part of the city that they seem to have issues getting anything done in.

Last thing is Occupy isn't there for anything against the NBA, it's the 1 percent owners they have gathered they are protesting.

Mayor McGinn's budget directs bitch slaps the hell out of the Seattle Times.

http://mayormcginn.seattle.gov/correcti ... sed-arena/

Last week Bruce Ramsey and Kate Riley, both editorial board members of the Seattle Times, went on the Brock and Salk radio show at different times to defend and explain the editorial coverage their paper has been giving to the proposed new Sonics arena. I listened to these broadcasts and was surprised and dismayed to hear how little they knew about or understood the actual proposal. The Times has a basic responsibility to get their facts straight – even if those facts don’t help them advance their particular view of reality. It frustrated me enough that I wrote down a point by point correction.

Goes on and tears down everything the two Times editorial writers said on Brock and Salk last week, point by point. Simply glorious.

I read that earlier. Great job by the budget director! Made both of them look like straight up fools.

The Memphis Grizzlies deal is about to fall through as well. The man that was about to buy them lost 800 million over the weekend. His net worth dropped from 1.something billion to around 200 million.....ouch.

Following the lead of the Mayor's budget director, King County director of performance, strategy and budget, Dwight Dively chimes in with a guest editorial at the Times:

Absolutely love seeing the people behind this deal putting the FACTS out there and not letting the anti-arena people get away with their misinformation tactics.
