279 Votes and 66% at this time want to see Gabbert start. It almost reminds me of the "We Want Carr" chants.

Some of the posters feel that Gabbert shouldn't be judged for his time in Jax. He was the 10th Overall pick in the 2011 Draft by the Jaguars were he went to a very dysfunctional team who hasn't had the best of luck developing talent through the draft.

Kap in the last two games has compiled 172 yards passing, 8 sacks, and 5 interceptions with 0 passing TD's.

On the NFL.com site in an article here Chryst says they have some "Major" changes in place
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000 ... -vs-giants

I'd think he might have a short leash this week. Pulling him might even be the best thing for him.

I personally don't think Gabbert is the answer. New coaches is what is needed. Harbaugh was able to get quite a lot out of Kap and I feel he is nowhere near as bad as he is playing. I've seen a lot worse as a Cardinals fan.

I've been excited to see Max Hall play, Lindley, Kolb, Skelton etc. There is worse out there. The person who deserves the blame is York as this is all trickled down from the top. A fish rots from the head down.

It's fun watching that dumpster fire. I cannot wait to see the "spin" for the usual suspects on this. :snack:

Spin about what?

Any 9ers fan calling for Gabbert right now comes from the hyper-emotional and wildly irrational contingent that plagues every fanbase.

Any way you spin it there's literally no upside in going to Gabbert at this point.

EDIT: Explaining my "at this point" caveat.

It's basically statistically impossible, but hypothetically, if Kaepernick's performance over the last two games continued at the same pace over the next X number of weeks, one might then conclude that his incompetency was retarding the development of young players on the offensive side of the ball, and be forced to go with Gabbert in the hopes that he'd be better.

Again, this is just a thought experiement though, and it's literally the only reason I can come up with for why starting Gabbert could eventually make sense.

What I think is funny is the constant call outs to posters who "spin" when we pretty much all say the Niners suck hard at the moment.

I thought he looked decent in preseason, gotta remember he was still a top 10 first round pick just went to the Jaguars and you know what happens when QBs go there or the browns. I've always been a huge Kap supporter but if he's going to be playing like this every single game and holding the team back then he needs to be benched.

If you ever saw a niner practice and didn't know which QB was the starter and which was the backup, by the end of practice, you would swear that Gabbert was the starter. Just watch them warm up and footwork, accuracy and throwing motion show Gabbert is superior in all aspects. I'm not saying Gabbert is the answer for the niners, but he is a better "QB" than Kaepernick.

I don't see the harm in giving Gabbert a chance.

He was a top 10 pick, still young and this season is likely over for the team. If Gabbert were to outperform Kap, they can always cut/trade Kap without too much of a dead money hit.

They would have a ton of cap space with that and the retirements, a rather young roster, and could quickly reload next year as well as bring in a new coaching staff which is the real issue with the team.

They could be competitive rather quickly. Now whether Gabbert can step up into that role who knows. I'd have to agree that Jacksonville hasn't really been a friendly place for anybody. The above is a real possibility.

Kap would be a 7 million dead cap hit next year, they'd gain 9.3. They'd have an 11.3 Million rollover from this year. Which would give them a whopping 60 million next year in FA. If I remember correctly they also have a lot of draft picks and could likely have a top 10 pick.

They could clean up immediately

Halfway through Wilson's rookie season we had almost half the fanbase pining for Matt Flynn. Fans just want to see their teams win. They don't have to be rational or reasonable. And we all want our view of the world to be the correct one.

If our guy keeps fumbling and making turnovers, there eventually will be folks drooling for TJack (hee hee ...).

I know it is fun messing with our 9ers rivals, so enough of this kind of talk. Back to cloaked mode.

And most fan bases can't think of more than the QB if their team is having issues.

Unless Aaron Rodgers is playing QB for the 49ers, they have too many issues to focus on the QB solely.

Ah Ringless typical bs. All that can be done is talk crap and spout out crapzone threads just to start an argument.

Kap and Gabbert are crap. End of story. Now since the niners suck and will suck how about spout off about a team that is a threat to you. There are a few of them out there man. Also yes York is an Horses Ass that caused all this crap.

How did Jed York cause Kaepernick to over and under throw receivers? How did Jed York cause Kaepernick to stop doing the simple things like calling a hot route or audible when it's obvious to everyone in the stadium ( I'm a 49er Season Ticket Holder and I have been to every game-section 403- row 27-seat 1-2-3-4 ) that the opposing defense is stacking 8men in the box or are about to blitz? Kaepernick is just horrible. Is it Jed Yorks fault that the opposing defenses have figured Kap out? Kaepernick was very good when he is up against man-man. Now he is faced with a lot more zone and he becomes very confused.

How is its York's fault? Please don't tell me it is because he allowed Harbaugh to leave for Michigan. Harbaugh was over rated. For 4 years this mans offense was at the bottom of the league in every important category. Last year he and Greg Romans offense ranked DEAD LAST in the redzone. Again Harbaugh was OVER-RATED! The defense was the strength of the Niners during Harbaugh reign. A defense he had nothing to do with and a defense that was drafted long before he arrived.

So tired of 49er fans blaming Jed York for everything wrong with the Niners.
Some even are posting "He is trying to ruin the franchise on purpose". This has to be the dumbest thing I have read in many years. Yeah because that's what every owner wants to do is destroy his money maker.

"Oh he moved them out of San Francisco"
Yeah because San Francisco would not help him build a stadium and refused his Uncle Eddie many years ago also. Jed York with the help of Santa Clara got a stadium built in a State that has not had a new professional football stadium in many years.
Ask L.A Oakland and San Diego about how hard it is.

Really York is not responsible. We went from a nfl quallity coaching staff to a staff that can not coach for crap. A crew that is clearly in over their head. Ya Harbaugh might not have been perfect but he is a ton better that what we have now.

Now the Kapernick crap is all on him. And him alone. Said this for a while. Also whi is even talking about the stadium. Im speaking about qb play and coaching so dont turn this into more than it is bud. If your happy with the coaching and think its better than Harbaugh you bumped your head.

Gabbert isn't the answer either.
rlkats, welcome to our Mora year. Having a team coached via the GM rarely works.

I feel for ya rl, your one of the good ones and that is coming from someone who has a very strong dislike for most all 9er fans.

I feel your pain though. We went through something similar just a few years ago with Holmgren losing a power trip to Ruskell who then proceeded to dismantle a championship caliber team to the point of about where the 9ers are now. Actually probably much worse. Guys like Boldin, T-Smith, Hyde and Davis would have been super stars on our team back then. At least with you guys it happened pretty fast. For us we had to suffer through about 5 years of deterioration before Paul stepped in and made the change to Pete.

I think Kaep has been exposed for what he is. An exceptional athlete with a great arm but a 2 cent head. Take away the guy doing the thinking for him and suddenly you have what he is now. We got to sit and watch Hasselbeck waste away his prime years trying to carry Ruvell Martin and Julius Jones with no O-line and a putrid defense. All the while the fan base turned on Matt and blamed him for the teams failure. It's still painful to watch him out perform Andrew Luck with the same weapons and coaching staff at 40 years old, when you feel like he should have retired a Seahawk and be mentoring Wilson right now instead of Luck.

By the way, how do you feel about Matt and Frank tearing it up together in Indy? It seems weird to see them in the same backfield but when Matt is playing I am a huge Gore fan. Always liked him though.

Love Gore wish he retired a niner but I do like Hyde. Im Glad the old men are kicking ass.
