My thought is that the rookie pay annual increase is set in stone until the next CBA. This increase is at a lower percentage than the increase in the salary cap. From a cap perspective in real terms a rookie costs less this year than he did at the same draft pick position last year. Last year's pick cost less in cap terms than the year before. Since the pay is fixed the only thing teams can offer is an increase in guarantees. Not so long ago only the top 2 overall picks received fully guaranteed contracts. In 2025 the #35 pick is borderline to be fully guaranteed. Next year pick #39 will likely be fully guaranteed.I wonder what the hold up is with those two 2nd rd. picks? Could it be guaranteed first contract, offset language, or ???. I’ve read elsewhere that many of the second rd. picks are wanting their total first contract to be guaranteed.
Anyone have any thoughts on these two 2nd round picks?
That was too short to be very sweet for anyone involved.Seahawks waive TE- 44- Mitch Van Vooren,
Updated.
To me it appears as if the team is looking at numerous prospects at TE which may indicate they'd like some changes to that position group. Time will tell.
