I suspect that Ellerbee will only be on the 53 until Mychal Kendricks is activated.

We'll see. The linebacker roster remains very much in play from week to week.

I'm beginning to wonder about KJ Wright. He has only seen 3 games in which he didn't play up to his lofty standard. The injury reports keep kicking his return down the road.

(On K.J. Wright) “All reports are good. He’s making progress and positive he’ll be back, I think tonight.”

(On if K.J. Wright’s injury will keep him out an additional couple of weeks) “I don’t know that. We’ve got to wait and see what happens. We’ll see where he is probably Wednesday or Thursday next week.” --- Pete Caroll (11/30)

I suspect Wright is again getting close to being available again. Too bad he got hurt in a contract year. He’s a better OLB than the others the team is able to line up at WOLB when not hobbled. The churn has been caused by his injury and the apparent reality that ‘Quem Griffin isn’t ready too start at that position leaving Ellerbee as a better option save for Kendricks who played quite well when here prior to his suspension. When Kendricks is again activated prior to the Vikings game Ellerbee is again potentially surplus to need if KJ is able to play and would likely be moved back to the PS if he clears waivers. Time will tell of course, but Kendricks is an upgrade to the LB group.

It is easy to see that the team has some decisions to make at LB going forward.

rotoworld.com is reporting the team has activated LB- Michael Kendricks from the Suspended list.

rostermon.com describes Kendricks status is ECP which I believe means he's eligible to play. I think the team now has a 2 week window to formally activate him counting him as a roster member.

Thanks Kitsap, this was expected.

Updated.

I suspect the team may add Ellerbee back to the PS as a hedge against further injuries as there is an open spot there. Of course this will depend upon him clearing waivers.

Chris I think the team has the guys here already but the gap discipline is the problem with the run D. Having a a big dude on the PS like Valentine may help the O more than the D, OTOH you could be right though and he’s just a depth addition , but somehow I think he’s another rock that is being rolled over or a possible diamond combed from the rough.

Well we have had run stopping consistency issues, a immovable object if he is motivated which seems to be his biggest issue would help plenty inside.

I was certainly not disagreeing with you, and completely agree that well schemed opponents can gash the Hawks D. If Valentine is in fact a genuine keeper and as strong at anchoring as his draft prospects indicated he might be I agree he would be very useful. He’s an interesting addition without a doubt.

I do think there is a run discipline problem where gap fits are weak at times as DLine players freelance . That to me seems to be the real culprit in the Hawks run D. Reed and sometimes Ford are both seemingly playing noticeably well. The others at DT are not doing as well with any consistency. At times they are very stout though. At times they have looked very vulnerable and have given up huge chunks of yardage to the ground game.

Updated now on the Valentine loss. He came to Seattle from AZ and AZ has claimed him back after them having some injuries at DT. This is a tad disappointing as this player might have been a good depth fit here. We'll get to see him in the final game of the regular season. I wonder if he would be a candidate to pick up as a FA if AZ doesn't re-up him after the season is done?

Seattle should be in a strong cap position this upcoming season with the latest increase in cap across the board from the league.
