No this isn’t blatant homerism.

This is a man who has watched the NFL for 50 of his 57 years. I am not an X’s and O’s dude by any stretch but my eyeballs are as keen and sharp as ever and right now please show me an NFL team more well-rounded, better coached, more dynamic and explosive on both sides of the football.

We are better than the Rams. Offense is similar. Our defense is better. Who else you got? Lions? Nope. Bucs? Even though we lost to them I say nope. Packers? Nope. Chiefs? Nope. Bills? Nope. Colts? Jones showed his true colors today, finally.

The list goes on and on. Yes I am feeling myself tonight and the Cabernet Sauvignon doesn’t hurt but in good conscience, right now, in this moment…

I can’t think of a single damn team in the NFL that is better than your beloved Seattle Seahawks right now.

Haven’t been this excited about Seahawks football in a hot minute!! I hope we don’t make some crazy out of pocket move at the deadline.
FEELS like we’ve entered a Super Bowl window, young team and all of our draft picks (I think or close to)

This offense is a joy to watch and yet there is a lot of room for improvement.

The defense plays fast, aggressive and love the MOB vibe.

I don't know if we're better than the rams. They're the number 3 scoring defense, we're number 7. Not sure how you say our D is better. (maybe you could, comparing opponents. I'm too lazy to do that.) Stafford is having a lights out year. Should be a great game in two weeks, for sure. It'll be a true measure of where we stand.

It's a strange year. No team has emerged amongst the pre-season favorites/media darlings that looks scary good, like the "team to beat" in either conference. There has already been more premature crownings of such teams than I can count on one hand. The Ravens...it was just a matter of if they could win the whole thing or not. Then everybody jumps on the Chargers bandwagon, until they slip back. The Jags beat the Chiefs and they supposedly have arrived. The Packers come out of the gate fast and then lose to Cleveland and the Vikes. SB champion Eagles suddenly drop two and look beatable. And on and on...

Everyone's always in such a hurry to be on the right side of the narrative that this year has been gleeful to me to see so many wrong about so many things already.

It's so wide open at the moment that I actually see our Hawks as contenders now, something that I could not have said with a straight face at season's start.

I'm enjoying the ride.

We will soon see. The Rams scare me a little. But if the Seahawks can treat our division opponents in any fashion that they just treated the Commanders, the league will be on notice.

I'm with you, Aros - I want to believe... And I'm starting to be convinced.

Right now they look like they can play with anybody. Long season though, early to crown. I have no doubt this team will be in the thick of things though when all is done. Can't wait for those Lambs games either, we'll know then for sure.

You actually think the Niners are better than the Seahawks? Sorry this isn’t September anymore.

Until we beat them. I want to say the Hawks are better without Warner but the 49ers always play well against us

Hey! We are gonna get our 3.7 yards if we have to try 28 times!

Origin of "Three Yards and A Cloud Of Dust"

History

I found this on "Bucknuts" I thought it was interesting. I thought I'd share. Credit to "bigjimmie" on that site.
In the Fall of 1957 Woody Hayes wrote a book intended for coaches an those who were "technically" envolved in the game. It was a paper back called "Football At Ohio State". The book was chock full of plays and diagrams.
In this book, Woody outlined many of his own personal coaching secrets and football philosphy! Hayes felt he had a contribution to make to his fellow coaches. The book was not for the layman and outlined Hayes offensive philospsy , especially his almost total distain for the foward pass. In the heart of the book Hayes can be quoted as saying..." "our offensive football is based upon the principle that we must first establish a sound running game"...we have learned through experience and intensive play of Big 10 football, that the team with the better running game will most likely win the game".... Hayes then states the key part ..."We use the word consistency to denote the success of a play..FOR A PLAY TO BE CONSISTENT IS HAS TO BE ONE WHICH HAS GAINED AT LEAST THREE YARDS!".... he went on to state that since one of the 3 plays will more than likely gain more than just 3 yards, the net result will be the possession of the ball!
When Hayes later stated that "three things happen when you throw a forward pass, and two of them are bad"..he had sort of cemented himself to a "three yards and a cloud of dust" offense as the media picked up on and tagged his offense as such!
And that folks, is the way it happened some 56 years ago as we look back at OSU football!

Much like the MLB this year the NFL is wide open. One thing that I like and something I haven't seen since the 2013/14 teams is that we are beating the team we should and doing it with conviction. No reason to thing we don't have a great shot. Just need to stay healthy and get hot at the right time.
