With Darnold playing at an All Pro level could we add to the team by trading Milroe?

Sure. Most any player is. But I wouldn't.

Did you see that one bad play he had? The one that has and will continue to define his entire career in its entire entirety? We would need to attach a pick just to get a team to take his salary and tolerate his presence.

This was one of my pet peeves when we had Wilson!
Hawks had a chance with Lamar Jackson sitting there available in the 2018 draft. IIRC, there was already Wilson contract talks not going well.

Hawks had the #18 overall pick. Traded it to GBay who drafted CB Jaire Alexander. Hawks trading back to #27 overall and the electric Jackson still on the board, I was hoping. There was the chatter ((smoke screens?) questioning Jackson's ability to play QB at the NFL level.

Hawks took RB Rashad Penny. I didn't think it was a terrible pick (maybe too high) but felt even at that time like they missed an opportunity presenting itself there. Some of the "why's" floated around at the time was that it could create tension with Wilson. To me, it could have been a great bargaining chip with Wilson to sign a more reasonable contract.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda

Fast forward... Lamar Jackson 2-time NFL MVP and arguably the greatest dual threat QB of all time.

Hawks finally got their 2018 draft 1st rounder after he initially had to spend time in the minor leagues with the Jets.

I don't see what the advantage would be. We have an unproven 3rd round QB which I doubt would garner much in return. Now if he started a few games and balled out, you could make it worth it like has happened around the league in the past.

Yup. You got it. There's just no good reason to.

And I should have said you "might" be able to get some value for him if he balled out for a few games instead of you "could". Even that wouldn't be a given. I've got to learn to choose my wording a little more carefully before hitting the Post button. lol

Drew Lock is like renting a 200 square foot apartment in Seattle for 1400 after parking and pet fees. It's just that your shit won't fit there.

Yeah. Milroe has zero value.

Might as well keep him around and hope we can mold him into maybe another Running Back or something.

It was a dumb pick to begin with. He was ass last year at Bama. The way this front office has been hitting on draft picks, that was a potential highly-valuable contributor we may have missed out on.
I said this when Milroe was drafted, and some thought I was over-reacting. I saw him play in Bama, I knew for the most part what the team was getting on the field. I STILL hope I'm proven wrong and he takes the leap he needs to in order to be successful for the team.

But I think they wanted one of Wyatt Milum or Emery Jones Jr for OL and they got plucked before the Hawks could get them. Also, Cam Skattebo was still on the table and quite a few people were high on him, including me.
