I suspect you are likely right. The team’s transaction report showed him as waived injured and he wasn’t claimed from waivers, so normally by rule he’d revert to IR unless there was either a settlement or the initial report was wrong.

I looked various transaction reports and found nothing that indicated the WI report was wrong or there was an injury settlement so I recorded him reverting to IR.

Maybe this is just the normal slow or incomplete reporting by .com.

For now I’ll leave it but it was confusing.will keep looking at this.

NFL.Com transactions (which are not user friendly at all) show him waived on 8/7 and then again on 8/8, so that confirms my suspicion.

Depth charts are really an antiquated concept as football is so situational these days. Really, besides the QB, OL and a few defenders, nobody plays every down. There's a different depth chart for every package and situation it seems like. I don't even know the difference between a LB and DE anymore.

At this point, after the last few years, anything good Nwosu is able to give us is a bonus to me. I think that puts me in a good mindset about him, having such low expectations.

This player certainly, when healthy, helps strengthen what I see is a team weakness, their edge rush. I recognize here that we have not seen much if anything of the starters and many team don’t show much other than vanilla with their edge rushes during preseason.

I’ll be happier when he returns to more than practicing. Here’s another report:

This is good news!

Thanks Jville!!!

Here are the official rules for cutdown day tomorrow:

Prior to 4:00 p.m. ET, clubs must reduce rosters to a maximum of 53 players on the Active/Inactive List.

Simultaneously with the roster reduction to 53 players, clubs that have players in the categories of Active/Physically Unable to Perform or Active/Non-Football Injury or Illness must select one of the following options: place player on Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform or Reserve/Non- Football Injury or Illness, whichever is applicable; terminate or request waivers with the designation of Failed Physical or Non-Football Injury or Illness, whichever is applicable; request waivers; terminate contract; trade contract; or continue to count the player on the Active List.

Clubs are permitted to designate for return a maximum of two players who are placed on an applicable Reserve List during the business day of the final roster reduction. Any such player will immediately count against the club’s number of designations, even if the player does not subsequently return to practice.

Players who are on the Reserve List or Exempt List and are not counting against the 90-player limit will begin to count against the 90-player limit.

We can expect 38 cuts assignments to PUP, IR, or NFI, and thereafter the next day 16 players added/signed to the PS and possibly the addition of the IPP player 62- Federico Maranges* who would be PS roster exempt. Players waived are subject to to be claimed by weaker teams if that team thinks the player is worth claiming. There is frequently some confusion as to who is kept on the PS so we need to wait to see 'official team announcements' in order to prevent unnecessary extra work here. . As well even if a vested veteran player is cut, he could be added back to the team as the player is a UFA. The 53 man team is usually not finalized until the first game and thereafter the normal churning ( PS elevations, etc.) for competitive purposes starts.

In usual fashion JS often contrives to trade for a player or two the team has been looking at acquiring to bolster a weaker positional group. I'd expect between 54 and 57 roster moves over the next week totem days.

Next player waived is OLB/DE-Seth Coleman.

Coleman was brought back just before the 1st preseason game after being added as a UDFA.

Don't remember him playing...may have missed some of the later entries.

With that said...I feel better about our IOL group than before PS.

Thomas has played solid and O'Connell was all over the place on Sat. Solid tackler and always near the ball.

Coleman did have some pass rush abilities, but perhaps was not seen as having the ability to supplant the players seen to be ahead of him on the DC.

Looks like the team may announce all the players released very close to the deadline. Going to be a busy day at the VMAC.

JS historically acquires 1-2 outside players by trade or through waiver claims.

I'm with the guy who posted a thread about losing sleep tonight and I bet it certainly applies to our staff as much as it does to our players. As busy as it will make you in the short term Jammer, the craziest days of pre season will soon be over.
