I Loved Geno when he was at West Virginia. Didn't get to watch him as much as I'd like, but his ability showed up , and showed out.
His senior season was off the charts, 71.2% completion, 42 TDs to 6 INTS. But I think his ego outweighed his maturity, and it got him in to trouble early.

PeHawk and I would go round and round about who loved him more.

Geno is what he is. A gifted QB, both physically and mentally, who just a little to often allows himself to get rattled. I think he is the best option that has been available to us since Wilson left. Though I would have liked to see Locke get more of a chance I seriously doubt he would have shown what is necessary out of that chance. It was more about seeing what we have while the games didn't matter much.

It is already looking like games this year will be more valuable than games in the last few years, so I am NOT for Howell getting that same look right now.

I also still think Geno is slightly overpaid but concede that is subjective. And it could be worse (Watson, Jones, etc.)

I'm sold. When he first became our starter, it seemed like every time we got to the end of a game and into one of those "drive the length of the field to win the game" situations that were Russ' bread and butter, he'd take a bad sack or fumble it. He's beyond that now and handles those situations well. And of course he's efficient and accurate the rest of the game too.

You, who else? Low hanging fruit and basically expected of you at this point to comment on things without the right information to do so.

Do you even bother to read and comprehend anybodys posts before diving headfirst into your agenda? I was talking to Soul and admitted to him that I only watched the first half and even said Geno looked good (gasp). How and why exactly are you trying to turn that into something negative?

"slightly overpaid?!?" In general, NFL QBs are overpaid but in relation to his peers, how do you figure this? Geno is at #20 in terms of avg/year. I'm pretty sure any starter you don't see in this list of 22 QBs is on a rookie deal.

How many of the QBs above him in salary would you be willing to just trade straight across for?

I am going with total contract value, taking into consideration when it was signed. I also think many above him are more grossly overpaid. I am more going by percent salary cap he is taking and the value he provides to the team. This is also why I think Metcalf is overpaid. I would put Lockette in the same category, but think he has provided more than enough value over the course of his contract to make the discrepancy in value this year acceptable.

Edit to add: I also think they paid what they had to, but that doesn't mean he is providing "good" value.

Even worse in cash paid this year. The 3 rookies are ahead of him due to signing bonuses.

Overpaid? You're not going to win that one.

And what's wrong with having an opinion, Dawg? Some think he's a bit overpaid, some don't. Cool.
He's getting paid significantly less than his peers, and some rookies are making more than him.

If you had that at your job would you consider yourself overpaid?

Boring argument. He's about where he should be. I don't care either way. I just want them to wait until after the season to redo his deal.

HE CHOSE to sign the deal. He needs to play with his hair on fire and earn a raise. As it should be. Cry my a river if you're asking for more money 1 year after signing a deal.
