I was sure that we will see Lock yesterday, but somehow the Lions kept coming back.
Yeah, after that pick six, I was really expecting a completely different second half of the game...

I kept wanting to see Geno not the Game Manager but Game Winner and that's what I saw yesterday. He was poised for all 4 quarters. He clearly looks comfortable in this offense and has total command of it. He has more than earned his job up to this point. Unless something massively unforeseeable occurs, we won't see Lock at all this year.
While I never expected it, I have to agree with Aros. Geno has been much better than I thought he would be. We have to see how this plays out for the entire year, but if it stays like this, I wouldn't mind spending our draft capital on seriously upgrading the defense. With few notable exceptions, drafting defensive stars is much easier than quarterbacks.

I was at the game in Detroit yesterday. Geno played great, for the most part made good decisions, and had just one really bone head play that I can think of...the intentional grounding call. But you really do have to put an asterisk next to his stat sheet and note that it came against a horribly inept Detroit defense that is likely the worst in the league.

Having said that, Geno has exceeded my expectations. If he keeps it up, we might be running out of excuses to justify our critical opinions of him.

No you don't. Any given Sunday. Otherwise, why stop there? why but an asterisk next to every game Geno has played thus far.

And they supposed to have a higher ranked OL.
That is only really against the run. Before this weeks games we are ranked 15th at pass block win rate where Denver are 17th. Against the run we are ranked 31st where the Broncos are 8th. So regarding sack avoidance I would put the OLs on a similar level.

Look at that intentional grounding a few more times you will see it was a bogus call.

After he spins around he got out past the hash marks (out of the pocket) before he threw the ball and the ball got past the line of scrimmage big time.

Another shit call when the refs huddle and discuss what call they can make up to hurt a particular team on any given Sunday.

Even the zebras couldn't overcame the combine prowess of Geno and Woolen.

Is this something people are actually debating?
It has nothing to do with a debate! Do you even read the posts?
The post was from an article on CBS. It was the writers perspective on if the statement was an over reaction or real. I merely posted for others to read who might not have read the article. Also it had some interesting stats about Geno some might want to know.
Isn't that the purpose of the threads and forum, to discuss things related to the team?

Geno is an inspiration to me...

Look at the way he has worked his way, over the years, into the starting role and has now arrived as maybe a potential star (?). He never stopped believing in himself all along.

Now, that self belief and confidence is obvious on the field and shows in his eyes and "body language". He looks (and is) in control of the offense and is a team leader. He is relaxed and knows what he is doing...his team-mates also respect him very much. Maybe this is his time to "shine".

His example also makes me want to "dig in" on my own personal goals. Maybe we all can find a way to "shine"!

Before the season, the Broncos' OL was widely considered much better than the Seahawks' awful unit. I predicted starting in June that by mid-season, Broncos fans and talking-head mediots would be wondering how the Broncos' OL got so much worse so quickly.

ESPN predicted in August that the Broncos would have the fifth-best pass-blocking OL in the league this season. Instead, the Broncos' OL is on track to allow 51 sacks this season. The Seahawks were predicted to have the 28th-best (fifth-worst) pass-blocking OL in the league.

What could possibly be causing the sudden drop in OL quality in Denver? 🤔

Not surprised, I was sold on him after he came in last year in the Rams game and almost got it done, team and the guys play for him, I and a few others saw a flicker of possibility going forward in that game, fact is he played in New York and well lets put it bluntly have the jets been able to grow their own since Namath, Ken O Brien was a very good QB as well but that has been it in a long long long ass time. Being in New York almost taints a QB for a career. They get the crap beat out of them.

Bottom line is that Geno has done nothing to warrant pulling him in favor of Lock. I was a lock supporter pre-season, but for reasons partly out of his control he didn't prove himself to be the better option. If he'd been able to play an extended time in game 2 of the pre, maybe he could have, but it didn't happen so Geno won the job.

Hard to bench a guy who hasn't been the primary reason for our two losses and has played well enough to win 3 of the games so far.

IMO Geno has done more to win the starting job SINCE he was named starter than before, other than being the faithful, loyal, studious, backup to Russ for so long. He definitely has earned his job. But his knee won't take a lot of abuse. Lock better be working hard to emulate Geno's game because there is always a real possibility he will be called upon to take the reins.

Shoot, keep him on as long as it takes for a youngster to usurp his position. It's not guaranteed that a drafted QB is going to be ready year one. Might be smart to let him watch and learn something from Geno. If you put in the work, in due time it will pay off...something along those lines.

If Geno keeps goitng all year st this clip, he deserves to be QB1 going into next season. I thought he was not very good (liked him at WV), but he always seemed confused in the NFL. Glad to be wrong about that, he's an even better stop gap than one could ask for. Hope he balls out all the way to an mvp trophy, THAT would be so deliciously fantastic (he's got to be team mvp right now).

Seahawks issue is that if Geno actually does play this well all year... he might cost more than we can afford to sign him. The QB market is ridiculous in the NFL right now, like, a legit problem. I mean, I don't want to get on my soapbox about their being too much money in professional and collegiate sports altogether, so I'll stick to this point: NFL teams are giving mediocre QBs way, way too much money let alone how much they are giving to GOOD QBs.

It should be considered a problem in the NFL that what is now considered the 'smart' play is to draft a rookie and work him until he's about to get paid and then move on. Like, that's bad for fans and bad for the game. But you can't afford to put winning pieces around the contracts a lot of QBs are getting right now.

I mean, these talks about whether we keep Geno for next year and stuff seem early, but Geno will attract a huge contract from someone if he's even 75% of this by the end of the year. If Pete is at all serious about keeping him, they'll have to be in full on earnest contract talks by week 9 and even then, if Geno's still putting on the type of tape he is now, a shrewd agent is probably going to be tell him not to sign. It'd be about loyalty to Pete and wanting to stick with the team would be the deciding factors.

Over the course of our first 4 games Geno has become the poster model for comeback player of the year. But 4 games does not a season make. I'm happy for him but I question whether he can make it through 13 more games, not just at or near the same level he's playing at now but just making it through 13 more games. If he can, great! He can also take us through next year while being a great mentor for the guy we draft. We'll be in good shape to bolster the supporting cast so long as he isn't suddenly on the Brady/DoubleCheck/DangeRuss etc etc payscale. One thing that should be clear to everyone is that despite Geno's current level of play he is not good enough for us to win consistantly without a great supporting cast.
Another thing on the bright side is we aren't deluged by constant Russ this and Russ that threads.

Well Appy I just watched this and I think he can do it for the full season. Some good decision making and scheme. He is playing the OCs game and not hero ball.
