THE ORION REPORT

Week 7
Seahawks 27, Texans 19
A messy win but a win built on red zone dominance and defensive grit.

OPENING TAKE

Sometimes a victory doesn’t need style points.
Monday night in Seattle, the Seahawks survived four turnovers, eleven penalties, and long stretches of offensive slop yet still controlled Houston 27–19.

That’s because the defense was lights out when it mattered, the run game punched in short touchdowns and Jaxon Smith-Njigba looked every bit like a budding WR1.
If Week 5 was heartbreak, Week 7 was resolve. Seattle bent, stumbled, and nearly tripped over itself but refused to break.

At 5–2 heading into the bye, this was a win that said more about resilience than rhythm.

THE TURNING POINT

The avalanche that broke the Texans’ will

Mid-third quarter: up 14–6, Seattle pieced together its cleanest stretch of football all night a Myers field goal from 26, a defensive stop, another from 47, then a bruising Zach Charbonnet two yard touchdown run.
Thirteen unanswered points turned a nail biter into scoreboard control.
Houston never recovered.

CONTRIBUTORS

Seattle Seahawks
QB Sam Darnold: 17-of-31 (54.8%) for 213 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT
WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba: 8 rec, 123 yds, 1 TD
RB Kenneth Walker III: 17 carries, 66 yds (3.9 avg)
RB Zach Charbonnet: 9 carries, 43 yds, 2 TD
K Jason Myers: 2/3 FG (26, 47), 3/3 XP – one blocked 53-yarder
DEFENSE: 3 sacks, 8 TFL, 11 PD, 1 INT ,Texans held to 202 yards and 1/13 on 3rd down.

PLAYER OF THE GAME (SEAHAWKS)

Jaxon Smith-Njigba – WR

8 receptions | 123 yards | 1 TD

The 11 yard touchdown before the first quarter buzzer set the tone. JSN was the only consistent explosive threat all night, repeatedly bailing out stalled drives and showing the smooth route precision that made him a first rounder.
When everything else sputtered, No. 11 kept the engine idling.

THE PROBLEM AREA

Ball security and discipline.

Four turnovers and eleven penalties are usually fatal. Two fumbles, two interceptions, multiple drives extended by flags this was self inflicted turbulence.
Seattle’s defense and red zone efficiency masked the chaos but if they play this sloppy against elite teams the margin will vanish.

WHAT IT MEANS GOING FORWARD

At 5–2 heading into the bye, the Seahawks are in prime NFC position, but it’s clear who they are right now .
A defense that suffocates on third down.
An offense with growing chemistry but nagging inconsistency.
A team capable of winning ugly and that’s an underrated trait in October.

The next step is cleaning the details ,communication pre snap third down sequencing and stop the gimmick plays also cutting the yellow laundry in half would be beneficial to say the least.
If they manage that, this squad has December staying power.

THE FINAL WORD

You can learn a lot about a contender from an ugly win.
Seattle just showed it can take a punch, steady itself, and close the deal anyway.
That’s what good teams do they find ways to win on nights they shouldn’t.
