Per CBS

Geno Smith is the Seahawks starting QB for the whole year

Overreaction or reality: Reality

Geno Smith has the highest completion percentage by any quarterback through four games in NFL history (minimum 125 attempts). He's the only player with a 75% completion rate, 1,000 yards and five touchdowns this season and has better numbers than Russell Wilson.

Smith is third in the NFL in passer rating (108.8) and is a major reason why the Seahawks are in the thick of the NFC West race at 2-2. He's the man in Seattle -- potentially even past this season if he keeps up this play.

Geno has better numbers and ranking than all but a handful of super stars. The combination of 75% and 1000 yards are not easy to achieve, hope Geno can keep it going for a whole season. Our WR1 and WR1a are really good, don't believe me? Just ask Russ :)

Could we be 2-2 if Russ is the QB?

He's earned enough rope in these first four games to easily carry him through the year. It'd have to be a pretty spectacular stumble for Lock to see action, considering the putrid wet fart that Lock left us on in his chance to make an impression.

And, no, not your typical "Geno being Geno!!!!!" "stumble" where he is still playing well. It'd have to be full implosion. Nathan Peterman stuff.

Barring a complete collapse or major injury it is Geno's job. Plus, it is easier to evaluate the rest of the team with Geno providing more consistent play.

Clearly need to draft another WR3, another interior OL (preferably an OC) and lots of front seven defenders based on what I have seen four games in. Drafting a QB in 2023 that may not have be rushed is looking like a real possibility which bodes well for the Hawks in 2023 and beyond.

So far so good but it is only a quarter of a season so far.

Yes, for sure. He's deadly on throws inside 25 yards. he's awful past 25 yards with zero touch but he's exceeding expectations for sure.

Sunday will be a great test. NO has a solid defense. We also get a nice break that the Saints decided to choose to have their bye week mid season instead of after the London game.

Aren't you glad that John and Pete resisted signing a QB? Like Mayfield etc.? These two were crucified for not addressing our "QB issue", they became the laughing stock by national experts to even consider starting Geno.

I kept wanting to see Geno not the Game Manager but Game Winner and that's what I saw yesterday. He was poised for all 4 quarters. He clearly looks comfortable in this offense and has total command of it. He has more than earned his job up to this point. Unless something massively unforeseeable occurs, we won't see Lock at all this year.

Yep, it's his job all year. Would take a big slump to bench him at this point. And more importantly, his teammates are behind him. That's everything.

Completely agree with Aros!

Geno looked good yesterday and was clearly in command of this O, he really did look good. I suspect we will see more good play from him going forward.

There is little likelihood of Lock playing this year provided Geno can stay healthy.

We've moved on to the "is Geno the long-term solution at QB?" stage of the process. He looks the part thus far. And suppose he can maintain his level of play. In that case, our future looks incredibly bright with all the draft capital we have next season. It's rare to upgrade at QB and still get the kind of assets we got for Russell.

It's fun to see not only Geno do what I expected (take care of the ball, be smart in the offense), but actually excel. His reads are excellent and he's actually able to get through a progression. His play has opened up our run game.

I have to give a lot of credit to our improved offensive line, but also having a QB who doesn't run out of the pocket as quickly as possible.

Geno might be the kind of guy where we can actually draft a quarterback and have him sit for a year learning the offense.

I was sure that we will see Lock yesterday, but somehow the Lions kept coming back.
