Divorces are always messy, but in the end with luck each is happier without the other.

Face it, RW just wanted to be elsewhere, all the rationalizations by both sides are just empty noise. I loved the player when he was drafted, was jazzed by his escapability, and arm talent, frustrated by his limitations and seeming inability to short pass or get rid of the ball when he should have just done so. His schtick was becoming tiresome though. He nevertheless was exciting to watch when he was on.

It was certainly not hard to see the divorce looming and their ‘troubles’ began with XLIX but became public with his last contract. To me RW spoke out of both sides of his mouth here, and still does as he has indicated he wants to get paid $50 Mil./yr. guaranteed by the Broncos. That will truly prejudice that team’s ability to win just as his last contract hurt the Hawks despite their continuing ability to remain competitive.

He was my favourite player on the team until recently but he now isn’t on my team. He can and will be replaced and the team will become stronger without him.

He initiated the trade talk by telling Hawks that he won't sign extension. he hand picked destinations thus denied Hawks with more favorable trade returns. NOW tell me how fake is "once the trade was going to happen"? "I want to go to a city that blah blah blah" he hand picked those cities.

It's quite possible, perhaps probable, that part of his criteria for being traded included going to a team, like the Broncos, that have a rabid fan base that "wants to win". There are other teams, like the Chargers, Cards, Jags, Jets, Giants, Rams, etc, that don't have nearly as passionate of a fan base as do the Broncos, who rank up there with places like Seattle, Green Bay, Dallas, etc, that have highly supportive fan bases.

Besides, he's gone now, no longer a Seahawk. Who gives a rip what he says to his new fans?

More specifically, the trade he vetoed to the Washington Commanders. None of his three criteria were met there.

I have to agree with this. Visiting Children's Hospital would be extremely depressing for me, having to look at those kids whom in some cases, have only months to live. If a person's sole objective is to polish their image, there are lots easier places to do so.

I don't like the way Russell left and felt that he was very disingenuous to his teammates and fans. But there was no good way to answer questions about his future. Even a simple "no comment" would have spawned all sorts of rumors and speculation. There is never a good excuse for lying and dishonesty, but in this case, it was understandable.

His statement COULD be taken literally, instead of making it into some sort of insinuation. He may have realized Seattle couldn't pay him so much and still be a contender, so he knew he was out. Maybe he was merely attempting to point out that he wants to be somewhere that wants to win and will do everything it can to do just that. When players around him in Denver succeed and want to be paid...that will recycle the exact situation there that we had here.

Actually, since we stand to benefit greatly if the Broncos tank this season, Russell's on field performance is an appropriate topic for the entire year.

But I do think that all this complaining about is personal flaws and the way things ended is what a lot of us are getting weary of. The way some posters are talking about him, you'd think that he's the one that has 22 lawsuits filed against him by massage therapists.
