Winston Guy .... What's your problem bro?

He may very well have all the physical measureables to become a star. But, to date, his mental makeup seems questionable. There were too many negative events to keep him on the field last year. And this camp, he has shown questionable judgement with the health of teammates.

S Winston Guy didn't earn any friends when he undercut 6-foot-5 WR Stephen Williams during one practice sequence before the simulated game. Williams was flipped ankles over his head, and he had to be tended to by trainers. He was able to participate in the simulated game, but Carroll was not pleased with Guy's hit during the drill, saying it shouldn't have happened.

As I recall earlier in the week, Winston Guy was involved in a collision that resulted in an injured a shoulder and red jersey for Luke Willson.

Winston Guy may turn out to be more of a team hazzard than a contributor. Disappointing.

I'm not disappointed at all, in fact I love it. I'd much rather have guys who have to be corralled for going too hard, intense and reckless than have to light a fire under a bunch of softies.

They don't call him the terminator for nothin... sounds like the boys are itchin to lace them up for real.. i have no problem with it, every day in every camp guys get a little amped and do these type of things.. I'm still waiting to hear about the first camp fights..

Guy is trying to fit in. The PEDs suspension as well as the on camera rebuke he got from Sherman when trying to fit in with the "My Brother" exchange and Sherman having to tell him he wasn't his protege gives me the impression that he is having a little adjustment finding his niche. Not everybody is going to get along and Guy seems to be the guy trying too hard to mesh with others. He might also be feeling the heat from the coaches?

This is his second year and he may not be maturing as quickly as others. One of the vets needs to mentor him so that he can channel his fire but I don't know if that will happen anytime soon. I didn't think he was going to make the 53 last year but he did, so he has some talent the coaches want to bring out of him. Kam will have to talk with him to see if he can help him if he needs any help. This is all keyboard speculation on my part and most likely has no reflection on what is reality.

Winston Guy. Oh where do I begin.
#1. Last year I barely noticed him ON the field, but, in the LOCKER ROOM (RRR) I wanted BB to come flying in with an elbow to shut him up. And I'm not even really one of the "just shut up and play" types. i love RRR but for some reason, WG is the ONLY Hawk that I wish would just STFU and stay off the camera. He tries tooo hard and seems a little 'off', I knew a few guys like him. Wait, no pun intended.

I don't have a problem with him trying hard. As a former defensive player, I get wanting to light up even your own guys.

The problem is, he went low on a guy during a drill that was supposed to be NO CONTACT. So, Williams wasn't even looking to defend himself....it's not like this happened in the mock game, or a scrimmage or anything. It's really akin to Thurmond flying in on the blitz and levelling Russell Wilson instead of just touching him down like he's supposed to.

It's immature and shows a lack of self control. Lack of self control will get you in trouble on the football field, more often than not.

I thought Guy was likeable before I was standing right in front of him the other day at practice while he was signing some autographs. He was a little standoffish, no worries, I get it, but then he mocked some young fans that were yelling at Russell Wilson as he was jogging by headed to do an interview. At that point I just hit the ignore button, he has some growing up to do for sure. Best of luck to him.

Damn, since when did .NET declare a fatwa against Winston Guy? You'd think he was a 49er or something. Personally I've always thought its sort of a good thing to have a guy on your team who's got a bit of a screw loose (on the field). Regardless, if he really did do something bush league to Stephen Williams today then just handle it within the unit and have Col. Jessup order a code red on Guy so they can get his mind right, and then move on.

I'm starting to have hopes for Kearse, but when he's on camera, he really does come across as a (mellow) 16 year old. He's just one of those people who looks and acts much younger than he is. Bobby Wagner is kind of the same thing.

But if those guys come across like high schoolers, Guy comes across like he's in middle school. It's as if everyone around him is his older brother. Hey, what are the older brothers up to? Look at me! Look at me!

I think part of what makes Kam what he is- he's a man's man. Not a talker, not a showoff. Just a guy that goes out and does it and says very little. He exudes inner strength and confidence. He doesn't worry what others think. He has a job to do.

I definitely think Guy has NFL talent physically, but if he doesn't make it in the league, I suspect it will be because of his maturity. He strikes me as someone lacking personal confidence and perhaps lacking a strong self image. Maybe if he starts having success, he'll gain confidence and acceptance in the locker room and things will take off from there.
