On a similar note, where was Avril? Two weeks now and nothing from the guy.

He goes through stretches of nothing and then he'll break out and get hot. That's how he's been his whole career.

At the end of the year he'll have around 10 sacks, but he'll have a few quiet stretches throughout the year. That's what all the Lions fans said.

not sure what game you guys were watching , but i was happy about our pass rush , thought we were getting good pressure on the qb, and i was very happy about our D as a whole. I thought the offense was much better today, but it was just a weird game, weird flukey stuff happening , killing drives . not sure what to think about this game, but i'll take it. we had just about everything go against us at one point and still won. that's a good day in my book..

I might be in the minority but the pass rush didn't bother me today. I would have like to see him contained, but Fitzpatrick did a good job of getting outside the pocket.

I think our LB play was pretty suspect, I certainly noticed the absence of Wagner.

I remember when some people wanted me banned for saying Bruce Irvin is overrated. The guy gets sacks here and there but not much else at all.

Doesn't mean he can't improve, especially learning a new position... but people are a little delusional of how good he actually he because of the Green Bay game last year.

The guy even said he was raw coming out of college...basically his college coaches said "there's the QB, go get him" and that was the extent of his coaching. Then they slid him inside, all 245 lbs of him.

Now, he's playing a position he never really played. Give him some patience, he's shown flashes and I think he'll impress us.

.

I'm not a big Irvin fan, either. I thought that #15 overall was way too high a price to spend on him and feel that a top half of the first round pick ought to be versatile enough to play on all 3 downs.

I saw #51 on a play or two, but I didn't see any plays with him being the last one getting up from the pile.

We'll see. He's playing a different position this year, perhaps it's going to take a few games for him to get used to it.

I would like to see more from the rush, but really the defense did its job today otherwise.

Our pass rush is not and has not been what we hoped for.

It's vexing

I concur.

Outside of Bennett, we don't demonstrate any consistancy in disrupting the passer, and that has me all in a huff.

I think people are confusing sack rates with pass rush. It'd have been nice if Fitzgerald got take down every time the pocket collapsed, but he's a Captain Checkdown. Hard to sack someone who's going to dump it off if the pocket's dying and the first read isn't open.

we had 1 job yesterday, shut down the run and force fitzpatrick into turning the ball over.

Mission accomplished. We held their running game to 33 yards. Would you rather have given up more rushing yards in exchange for another sack? Not sure what you're looking for here. They barely got 200 total yards.

Bigger question is where the he'll was our pass rush today?!

I'd take 2 sacks, 2 picks, 2-3 fumbles forced, no TD's, 223 total yards given up EVERY.SINGLE.WEEK.

Some of you guys are too hyper-focused on the rush and sacks. This was a close game the entire way, so it wasn't a game where we were up by 21 in the 3rd quarter and could just pin our ears back and get 7 sacks. When you're playing in close games, the D-lineman have to remain in their gaps to defend the run AND pass.

Bruce did fine. While he did not have any spectacular plays, he stayed with his lane assignments and did not get called out on penalties and blown coverages/tackles.

I assume it was the scheme. It did not look like he was asked to put pressure on. I saw him drop back and play in coverage and looked ok
