I was at the draft when our Seattle Seahawks traded the 8th and 10th pick in the first round for the 3rd pick to select future Hall of Famer Cortez Kennedy! I remember the commissioner announcing the trade and I was ecstatic when they picked Kennedy.

The next three picks after that for the Seahawks were:
Terry Wooden
Robert Blackmon
Chris Warren

What a fantastic draft that was!

I remember that as well. I'll never forget Cortez's press conference in Kirkland a couple days later and he said something to the effect of, "In the NFL there are players and teams that are going to try and hurt you. So what I have to do is hurt them back (or first)." I remember thinking we had a dawg on our team now and boy was that ever a fact.

Man I miss Tez.

Just to add to my original post, the draft during those years was held at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. Back then they only let in around I would say 500–700 people total. The fans like myself sat in the balcony a floor above the team reps overlooking them. That year I was sitting literally right above the two Seahawk reps at the table with the helmet phone. Before the draft started I was trying to get their attention but they weren’t acknowledging me. With that said, before this when we were on line waiting to go into the draft, everyone got to fill out a raffle form and we had to pick what each team would do with their first pick and the winner would win Super Bowl tickets to next year Super Bowl.Right before the Cowboys picked Emmitt Smith, an NFL representative went up to the mic and announced my name as winning the Super Bowl tickets to the 1991 Super Bowl. My friends and I were going crazy and then the Seahawk reps who wouldn’t give me the time of day were all of the sudden motioning up to me and congratulating me. One of the best days of my life!!!
