What I have read:

1. Schneider low balled Geno and DK.
2. Geno didn't counter offer; instead immediately requested a trade. The request was not public.
3. DK surprised Schneider with a public request for trade after Geno requested his.

Did Schneider have a grand plan, and it's part of that plan to rid the team of Geno and DK? If Schneider has a plan, we shall have a Geno replacement named within the next 36-48 hours, right?

I have no problem moving on from both Geno and DK as I am so sick and tired of being stuck in mediocrity and neither are worth the money they were reportedly asking. If we have to take a step back for a year, so be it. But I'm not so sure this was Schneider's plan. To me, he seems like a reactive GM rather than a proactive one.

So John Schneider has a master plan, and trading away Geno and DK was part of the plan?

I think getting rid of both of them will be better long term. Geno just can’t win the games that count. He forces throws in the redzone. I think John didn’t want to give huge money to them because he knows it would change anything. And I think Geno wanted more than 40mil per season. And DK wanted more than 30. And every game DK had so many targets that were not caught. Better to start over and see if they can build a real contender. Geno is a good QB. But will need a very good to great team around him.

The two players wanted more money than their production called for. Only way to keep them was to overpay them. Negotiations stalled out so everyone started looking at different avenues

It would be good to get a qb. End our speculation. It's nerve racking . I don't like the FA options. I think there is just alot of smoke. I wanna see the plan. I wanna know there was a plan. A good one. Darnold can't be the plan because we haven't signed him. Unless they are waiting for Monday.

No "master" plan. This is Plan B that is unfolding right now.

And no guarantee Darnold lands here. If he does, my guess is it will be for 40+. You don't drop 40+ for another bridge QB. It's for franchise types only. Is Darnold a franchise guy? I mean he's not bad, but the more film I watch of him, he looks more like the product of a system. Great play calling by their coach, and a great receiver corp.

Unless we have a genius in Kubiak, and Jefferson type receivers, I don't think he puts up the same stats he did last season. Even if DK stays, he's not Jefferson. Jefferson gets open all the time.

What the past few days has revealed is that JS does not -- and never did -- have a master plan. Part of the problem was that for years, Pete ran the show, and JS reported to him. Pete's master plan was and has always centered around good defense, a strong run game, and a QB who can hit the deep ball. That plan left out a big component, which was maintain a solid o-line, something that has plagued this team for a freaking decade.

The pieces are falling off of the ship, we have no answer for losing Lockett, DK and Geno. Sure, we have some cap space now to pick up some guys, but until the O-line is solidified, we're heading nowhere. Best bet is look at what Harbaugh did with the Chargers this year. Don't worry about adding big weapons, build up the core of the team. Yes, he has Herbert to work with, and we may have to sacrifice 2025 in order to pick up a stud QB in the 2026 draft. It certainly would stink to have to do this, but scrambling around to put together a patchwork team now just ensures us of more years of 9-8 and 8-9. That's not a great plan, but at least it's a plan.

Dk is a luxury right now until we get the trenches figured out if he wants a huge contract. Reallocate resources to both lines $ and draft wise wise, draft a receiver and grab a vet like Amari Cooper for next year to go with jsn.

Our lovely owner Jody has every right to demand that her GM lined up a replacement before trading away the franchise QB. IF Schneider signs a Geno replacement in the next 48 hours, maybe he did have a plan. At least he could spin that into having a plan.

If he couldn't sign someone in the next 48 hours, say Vikings decided to keep both JJ and Darnold, Steelers decide to keep Fields instead of Wilson. Schneider would be between a rock and a hard place.

He could sign
Rodgers, but older and more expensive than Geno??
Cousin, older and really?
Jimmy G, lol
Minshaw, rofl
Wilson, lmao
Lock, Imao, rofl
Carr, speechless

or

Howell + draft a rookie, well, both Macdonald and Kubiak ask if they can unsign their contracts.

No matter what happens you will be sure to spin a tall tale and it will most definitely paint JS as evil, dumb, and incompetent.
