Vikings signed Daniel Jones

After the Giants chose to part ways with their $140 million quarterback, Minnesota scooped him up on one-year deal for the remainder of the season worth $375,000.

Jones' signing will also be factored into the NFL's compensatory pick formula should he sign somewhere else after free agency opens in a couple months.

I understand not paying Jones before the end of the regular season as his salary would offset against what the Giants were paying him. If the Vikings qualify for a compensatory pick for signing a player during the playoffs, (who probably won't play), and him then leaving in February/March - then the system stinks. So far the Vikings have paid Jones only PS money.

It will be fairly hilarious, and entirely possible, if he gets cut from the Giants, to go the the Vikings, gets a ring, and earns the Vikings a comp pick, all while never playing a down. Sounds so Belichickian

It totally does stink but I read it is going to get them a pick , probably 6th or 7th rd but can't remember if it was nfl.com or espn either way pretty sure i read it right
