The #2 ranked QB behind Mendoza is Ty Simpson (Alabama) who could easily go in the first round, even to the Rams at #29.
I don't know much about Simpson but I'm curious to how some of you would compare Milroe/Simpson at this current time. Also who you would want to roll with going into the 26' season, biggest upside, pos/neg?

Supposedly had a rough mini camp and threw a bunch of picks. If he stinks again in the summer/preseason do you still keep him on the roster? Darnold isn't that old so you don't really need 3 QB's and its blocking the path of a potential special teamer.

Obviously hoping he figures it out but I think if he does stink maybe cut and hope he makes the PS.

I disagree with you here. I think it's worth a roster spot to always have a QB developing. That QB is either a future starter or future trade fodder. We've benefitted from that - Hasselbeck was a development QB pick for the Packers.

If the team experts don't think he'll develop, then put him on the practice squad, then cut bait and draft his replacement next year.

Lock is probably a bottom-third #2 QB in the league. We have way too much quality depth at other positions to be keeping someone who can't beat him out. Rostering three QBs this year would be a complete waste.

I noticed if you click on the choices, it shows who voted for what. Is that supposed to be? I assumed polls would always be anonymous. Just curious, is all.

When you create a poll, you can choose to make votes public knowledge or not.
I’m not sure what the default is however.

I’ve always thought is strange that anyone would be ashamed of how they vote.
(Just saying, not being political as that would be against the rules)

The question is more whether or not he has shown sufficient development in the past 12 months to justify keeping him on. He is absolutely a development QB that doesn't need to beat out the back-up QB just yet. If Lock is a bottom third #2 it's him we should look at moving on rather than the other way around.

Ideally this year if he *DOES* come in on the odd play we should see him actually attempt a pass, but 2-3 years riding the bench is the absolutely best scenario for him.

I do think it's funny [Note this is not directed at you in particular but more of a general comment] how for years fans complained that Schneider wasn't following the Green Bay model of selecting a QB every year to develop and trade off/keep the QB room growing, yet Green Bay let players like Brunell, Hasselbeck, Rodgers & Love all sit for a *minimum* of 2 years. Now we actually select a development QB and because he isn't beating out Darnold in his first year we should be moving him on already?

I agree, which is why it would be incredibly disappointing if Milroe is unable to beat him out this season. Darnold isn't old enough where having that developmental QB slot should be considered essential if the guy isn't showing much. We're going to be cutting good players as it is.

Willis is a decent example of why patience is often necessary, but not for the Packers.

Willis wasn't drafted by the Packers and he was never their #3 QB. They traded a seventh to the Titans to be their primary backup and he showed out when he got the chance. I'm certainly not suggesting we don't have a backup this year, I just think it needs to be either Lock or Milroe, not both. We have too many good players at positions that can contribute while our window is open for that.

You could argue the Titans were dumb for letting him go after two seasons, but they were in a much different situation than we are and a developmental QB slot would have made more sense for them. The Titans didn't have their guy. We do.

Looking at the current roster, getting down to 53 is going to cut some good players. So i hope we only keep 2 QBs. Milroe has to just show enough , where the team is comfortable that the defense and a custom tailored offense is enough to win.
It's Milroe's spot to lose, imo. But if he hasn't put it together by middle of August you either cut him or start to consider positional options for him for some kind of contribution.
