Milroe will be QB #2 next year, Id be shocked if they bring back Lock as the back up again. I also think the more time he spends watching and learning the league the more he can possibly grow.

I Also feel like the pressure of having him be the next big thing is gone since Darnold showed up in such a way non of us thought he would.
Do you think Lock has any trade value with one year left on his contract?

And he fumbled on that one play...IIRC. There is a reason he didn't have any more plays. It's also why he doesn't have much trade value, if any.
My intent was not to call him a bust. What I was trying to say was the Seahawks most likely wouldn't get back anything by trading him now. He's not a bust...he's just a QB who is work in progress currently.

I think it is too early to cut bait on Milroe. They drafted him for a reason and the intention was always to bring him along slowly (which is what many have been asking for). We really have no idea if he has been flashing at practice and what the coaching staff thinks of his progress. I guess we will find out what they think if he gets traded.

Drew Lock is a capable backup and known quantity. I would not be in favor of moving to 2 QB's unless JM has proven to taken the next step and that could take another year.
We are now squarely in Super Bowl contention territory and any length of injury to Sam 'could' cost us a Lombardi trophy. I don't think an extra roster spot is critical mostly because of John's ability to snag undrafted FA's & his mastery of carrying a practice squad.

I would keep three QB's for one more year and see how it goes, also don't think trading for a mid to low draft pick would be worth it in this draft considering our investment.
Also Sam & Drew have been friends since high school and don't want to disrupt that chemistry where Sam starts chain smoking Marlboro's pregame to calm his nerves.

Speak for yourself.

I knew Sam would show up big during the regular season since he did it the previous year in Minnesota. It wasn't the system or the talent; it was always him. He just needed the franchise not to be a dumpster fire. Also, I knew he would show up big in the playoffs since he got a 2nd chance there after the disappointing end to it last year. 😤

I just didn't know the way he would show up "big" in the playoffs was to play mistake-free football in every game (including the SB).

Though I did know he had it in him to go toe-to-toe with Stafford.

As far as pressure on Milroe goes, yeah...he was drafted as a "Hedge your bets" plan in case Darnold didn't work out so now he won't have to be rushed and maybe we see him start a whole preseason game to see what we got?

I believe that JS has had his eye on Milroe for a while, and did his due diligence before picking him. Milroe was one of the Seahawks top-30 visits before the draft, and met with JS and the coaching staff.

He had top-30 visits with 5 other teams, including the LA Rams. If McVay and Snead were thinking along the same lines, that's a good sign.

Great points ^^^

I'm good trusting the opinion of JS and Coach Mike, let alone McSpikey Hair and Snead. They know their stuff.

John really likes Lock, why he brought him back, Milroe is a project, he will remain one this next season, he is not our future now that Darnold has proven himself. Lock is insurance, Milroe is a show piece we hope shows to be traded going forward.

We'll know more about that situation after the Pre-season and who gets the lion's share of the snaps.

He listened to me when I was banging the table for JSN and Malik McDowell.
I am very bad at figuring out who's going to work out, and who isn't. But I do have immense faith in JS's decisions, so if he's listening to you, so am I.

As far as Milroe goes, I'm at a loss as to what the Hawks are looking at for his future. But they could have picked Shedeur and they passed. I know you like Shedeur, and I know he has talent, probably more than Milroe, which makes me wonder about the Milroe pick. Perhaps avoiding the drama? Or maybe the Seahawks actually have a plan - 3rd round picks aren't garbage picks.

I was high on Milroe til I watched his senior bowl performance. With the emergence of Darnold get what you can for Milroe and try to develop another young qb behind Darnold and Lock.

He was 3/5 for 21 yards and sacked 3 times for -12 yards, that doesn't seem like enough to base an opinion on.
