...come at me

National media are calling out Geno's game from last week. These are just two convenient posts from my Twitter feed; there are bigger names spreading this.

Wasn't until the all-22 here that I saw how much Geno had to overcome on this play.

One thing it really highlights about Geno '24 that he's got that savvy, minimalistic pocket navigation that the best QB's have and that Russell Wilson just never developed (he was elite in his way, he just didn't develop that). Geno showed this on the halftime TD too:

This is elite stuff. He's got that "eye in the back of his helmet".

I realize the red zone production isn't there, I realize this was his first multi-score game this season, I realize that he's probably going to need DK to maintain this level of production. And last week's loss did rest heavily on him.

But this is elite stuff. Geno '24 has improved from several games on, several games off to several games on, one game off - which is a place even Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning reside. The last undefeated team was 52 years ago. Losses happen. But Geno '24 is not Geno '23. Not yet.

Next week will be telling. The Bills can play defense.

I have to admit geno looks better than last year…. Sometimes….

I also don’t find myself doubting him or worrying about him as much. I did not like his tantrum over Bobo’s first ever dropped pass and I think he plays much better against prevent. I still don’t believe in him having that put it all on your shoulders persona.

Geno will forever have the most unique development cycle ever. I really do think that this play in particular isn't made by Geno a couple years ago or last year or even '21 for that matter. This is an experience play for sure the man has just experienced the pressure more.

Without researching too much because I am lazy, but... isn't this only geno's 4th ever year as a starter? If this was a "normal" development cycle for a QB that would put them at around 25 or 26 years old. Geno is an interesting data point to be examined when it comes to the age old: Rookie QB, Start him? Or have him watch and learn behind a veteran QB? Question(s).

Let's see if he can develop even more. Let's have fun with this. I'm so curious what his ceiling is. We have no reason not to root for Geno, I do NOT want to have to pay some C+ QB 400 million dollars in three years because we drafted the equivalent to tua or love. This experiment could prove to be league defining someday. I know I don't have to go into detail about how overinflated the QB market is right now. If you can start finding 30 year old gem quarterbacks who have never started but have been developing for 8 years and pay them next to nothing obviously you can have a deep roster.

I am also biased because I hate the way rosters are consructed. I think the QB position at every level is highly overvalued. I would absolutely rather have an A+ Offensive line and a D+ QB than a D+ Oline and A+ QB.

These are good lines. I think we have to start incorporating them into our thinking about him.

It feels genuinely ridiculous to question whether a 34-year-old QB should get a massive contract. But he ain't playing like he's 34. He's peaking right now. And the mental edge is there. Kirk Cousins is making it work at 36. Could Geno justify another three/four years?

I'll need the rest of the season to find out. But the range of options has shifted to include such a possibility at the far end, IMO.

As I mentioned in another post -

Geno is VERY serviceable. He's got his warts, but he's grinding it out every game - and improving, which is all we can really ask.

As far as 'needing' DK - yes, DK had a great game. But I'm in the spread it around camp. Always have been.

Winning fixes all, and I guess we see what we want to see. But overall, I feel like he has alot more poise in the pocket this year, and a ragged pocket at that most days. I regularly see him step up through pocket pressure now, which last year and the year before he would have tried to do his best Russ impersonation running in circles.

He's not the best, and he's not the worst. I could do without some of his mini-tantrums - both from last year, and stuff like this year - smashing tablets against his head.

He's accountable and grinding it out. All you could ask for.

Geno has done more with a crap O-line than most other QBs in the league. Considering some of the longer developing plays, he frickin’ magical back there.
I’m sure he’s putting a lot of pressure on himself to play “perfectly.” Can’t wait until we can give the man a clean pocket!

It takes absolute balls to throw that pass to DK. Love the confidence in him to make that throw and faith that DK is going to attack it with four defenders in the vicinity.

That 40 yard dart to DK looks completely insane from that angle. It literally looks like the ball shot out of a cannon

Gardner Minshew is serviceable.
Daniel Jones is serviceable.
Kyle Rudolph is serviceable.

Serviceable is someone who you can stick in and reasonably get the job done to an 'ok' level. Not great. Not horrible.

Geno is better than serviceable.
