My god Ringless, do you really care if Aldon's a bit troubled? I mean, genuinely care? The answers no. It's all phony and self-aggrandizing morality.

Why do we all need to act like the NFL are parents and the players are children. These are grown men, I couldn't care less whether their choir boys off the field. These are dudes willingly enduring brain damage for a living, so, it's not like they're the sharpest tools in the shed.

Who cares. Bunch of lace-curtain gossips.

I think his main point is that if he were Baalke he'd cut him and the team's losses rather than wait for what seems like the inevitable disaster in season when it hurts the organization more acutely because there's zero chance to replace his production then vs. at least having the chance to in the draft if you cut ties now.
If that's his main point, I agree with him, if it's as you suggest I agree with you.

The curse of Charles Haley rings strong in Ninerland.

Trade Haley to an "up and coming but nobody could foresee juggernaut" Cowboy team, and have to deal with a crushing pass rusher the next few years.

With the Niners luck, where does Aldon Smith go next? NFC most likely, very good chance an NFC West team.

Believe me, if you had this issue with Earl Thomas or Richard Sherman it would be complicated. Does anybody realize what a POS Lawrence Taylor was in his prime?

My main point is that I believe the 49ers will pay dearly if they keep him, he won't be able to stay out of trouble. There are a lot of smart, talented, intelligent players as well. They don't all have to be as stupid as this guy. I do actually hate to see talented players make stupid mistakes because I appreciate the beauty of their craft believe it or not. He is a special talent. But at the end of the day they are still employees, and still have to protect the image of their franchise, they still have to have responsibilities. If I was an employee of a multi billion dollar corporation I doubt I'd have a job after the shit he's pulled. Aldons actions don't just affect him, he is not better than any of us on this board just because he plays football. Each time he does something stupid it means his teammates, coaches, and fans pay for his mistake, it's not just him and thats the real problem... There are 52 other players on a team with one goal in common of winning a super bowl, and his decisions directly impact the chances of all the other 52 players that are sacrificing their bodies to achieve it.... Does that make sense? . It means he takes up a roster spot but doesn't get to play and brings negative light to the franchise creating drama. If Larry Fitzgerald acted the way he does consistently I would want him cut. I'd always be worried about the next time we are going to be missing a key piece of the puzzle because I knew trouble was lurking around the corner. Russel Wilson seems to be a pretty sharp tool, and there are thousands of players that would love to have Aldons job and I bet there are thousands that would be willing to make better choices off the field.

Obviously. I guess I have a bigger point; why does the NFL feel the need to protect us from cheering for an asshole? Why are we so nosy and so pathetic, we fret enough to warrant a personal conduct policy? I don't get it, never will. Let the legal system handle all that stuff. Especially the NFL, that is beyond hypocritical.

You never see me posting in "this player got arrested" posts because I literally don't care.

Well, that's that settled then. Right, Marvin?

Nothing settled...just updating as I find anything on the topic.

Bunch of quotes from his agent as well from interview on KNBR, but other than saying he's been in contact with Baalke to say Aldon didn't have a drink, nothing really new to report.

So...

Should the Cards get rid of Daryl Washington since his actions have had an even larger effect on his team (missing 20 games now to suspension)?

How about Tyrann Matthieu who couldn't stay out of trouble in college?

They ain't all brain surgeons or saints. If they can play, they'll be given ever opportunity to clean themselves up.

All I know is that not everything is equivalent. I do think the sports media and fans talk too damn much about "class." Like, who gives a **** about class? I don't care if my guys talk, grab their crotches after scoring a TD, or take a steamy dump on the field as long as they win.

On the other hand, some stuff is just not worth it. Locker room cancer = not worth it. People who habitually get caught at PED use (because let's be real right now that everybody does it) = not worth it. Rapists who might rape more women the longer that they stay in my city = not worth it.

I would say that drunks who are ruining their lives are not worth it. That would cover Justin Blackmon, Aldon Smith, and D-Wash, I believe. I have no interest in watching some out-of-control dude waste his talent on my team, no matter how great his talent is. YMMV.

OK Aldumbshit, we believe you. Because when you have a problem with alcohol, one of the first things you should do is go to Ray McDonald's house.

If Aldon wasn't a complete moron, I might believe that he was helping out Ray with some electrical work or teaching him how to remove the charging handle and bolt from his assault rifle for proper cleaning, but Smith couldn't win a spelling bee against a used condom. His usefulness as a human drops to sub-zero the second he steps off the field and in a hard count situation even that is debatable.

Its only a matter of time and I just hope that nobody gets hurt, including Aldon Einstein.

You have done some quality work in the past, but this is among your finest.

Besides, Alldumb only had an hour. So they didn't drink, they smoked. Duh.

Yes, and because people with alcohol problems never deny said problem either.

It fills me with delight that Pete Carroll ran Jim Harbaugh out of the NFC West.

While Carrol for sure gave old Harbs an old school ass whoopin every time they met. I do believe Harbs attitude ran himself out of town.

I don't know RL, if not for Carroll Jimmy might have that trophy.

I doubt that. The whiners lost to a worse team the year before. I don't think they would have beaten the donkos.

Talent-wise maybe. Matchup wise, the Ravens were uniquely qualifyed to give NFC teams fits. Denver was just soft. They could cut through AFC defenses like a hot knife through butter, but I could see the 49ers beating them last year. Probably not by as much as we did, and maybe a little less without Bowman, but they could have beaten them.

Agree. I think Frisco handles the Donks pretty well......say by 15 or so.

Hating the niners as much as I do, I will NEVER believe that they would have beaten the donkos. They lost to two of the best passing offenses last year. They were stout against the run, but gave up a bunch against the pass. Plus, Keeporpick seems to choke in big games.

They sure looked bad vs the Broncos this year.
They had just lost Iupati and Bowman for the year. It would have been tough for them.
