And that worries me.
I don't think you should be worried about that. I think the issues are more defensive line. Warner is not going to create a pass rush unless he is blitzed and in general TFLs are usually created in the back field. The porous run defense was more noticed with the loss of Mykel Williams.

He will help in diagnosing the offense though

Isn't there an almost zero % chance he plays? Usually they open the practice window at this time for the next weeks or even later games. I doubt he's 100% so if he plays I don't think its in their best interest.

49ers have opened the practice window for Warner. Personally I think most of their defensive problems are on the defensive line, but nice to have the All pro captain back in the fold. Does not mean he will play but I think it will be all hands on deck if they think he is not at risk of reinjury

Is it worth it though? I mean, just say they sneak past the Seahawks and steal a win, but he get's reinjured. It's a difficult decision if he is cleared and can play for sure.

He has to be cleared if he plays. He's not even allowed to be on the practice field if he hasn't cleared the medical hurdles he's supposed to clear.

Also notable, while none of us really believed it, this timeline for his return was always laid out as a possiblity.

Having said that I don't think he returns this week, but seeing him practice is making me wonder.

Aren't you worried that him and/or Glass Pearsal could injure themselves worse? Honest question.

The way everyone has been talking, I assumed he had been cleared already.

His practice window is open...so yes for the most part.

However, he's not practicing today. I think part of the routine is to practice one day and see how he feels the next. If he's not practicing today and today is their last practice before the game, not likely he plays on Saturday.

Also: Pearsall, Winters and Trent all practicing today.

Yes on Fred. Not so much on Pearsall. Seasons over if they lose so no reason to hold Pearsall back. Fred different as this was a major injury.

Makes sense. Warner is a ridiculous football player.

Honestly, the way this season has gone, my one hope coming into the playoffs since I didn't have any expectations was that they could get out of it without sustaining any injuries that would linger into next year. Thats what happened LAST year with Aiyuk. We spent all year thinking at some point the WR room was gonna get a huge influx of talent (in particular, a guy who could beat man-to-man coverage), but that thing just kept lingering and now we know he was never coming back because dude went flat nuts. The idea was to have Aiyuk-Pearsall and then Jauan as WR3. Instead, we've had Jauan as WR1 AND he's been nursing cracked ribs all year.

Sadly, now we are in a similar boat with George, but at least we know he won't go nuts and drive past stadium at 90 MPH (btw I'm sitting a block away from the stadium right now and Tasman Drive that's right in front isn't like an expressway or anything. Its a 2 lane city road with crosswalks. That's just crazy).

Fred coming back makes me nervous.

I'm old enough to remember Jerry coming back from a torn ACL during the season and then seeing him get re-injured in the game.

Exactly, I can see both sides of it. Need him for a huge game but risking it could make it worse. Where to you draw the line?
There was a couple game back in the day that Bobby Wagner really had no business playing in. It was hard to watch because it just looked like he was on the brink of tearing something.

I don't know the details of the injury, but with the timeline it seems it was more of a fracture. If he refractures it, it will heal again in the same time period. The big issue would be whether it would make him more prone to a ligament injury like an ACL or achilles

If Warner is rushed back its not a guarantee he's nearly the same player. We see it all the time when guys come back too soon. Again I don't think he's playing anyway so moot point.

Thats not my concern.

My concern is him protecting that leg and getting a soft tissue injury on the OTHER leg when he compensates.

Yep. Overcompensation can make things worse.

(We're talking about football here  )

I remember Frank Gore at Miami.

Tore his ACL. Came back, tore the OTHER ACL. Then somehow never hurt his knee again and ran for 16000 yards as a pro.

Overcompensation for an injury is real.
