Michael was clearly a BPA pick combined with a little insurance because Marshawn is getting older. Yeah I guess I like what I've seen from Michael so far, but there's zero rush to get the guy in there. Marshawn is having a great year (that seems to be all he ever does). As far as I'm concerned, if my starting RB produces like Marshawn, the only possible reason I put another RB out there is to spell him, and Turbin can do that.
Also, I see zero connection between Michael and protecting Russell. Lynch is solid at pass pro and they know what they have from Turbin there also. Maybe Michael would do an okay job, but that's hardly a reason to find carries for him over guys who are already doing an okay job.
I will say this: draft-reach or not, I want them to find some OL depth next year somehow. Put the same priority on it as they put on the pass rush, and we'll be fine. It would be crazy this point not to anticipate Okung's annual stretch of missed games, and while I don't expect a backup to be as good as Okung, I think we need to do better than our current options. Good God do we need to do better.
