To protect our franchise QB. He is taking way too many hits, and I know a bye is coming up but let's protect him okay? And with Marshawn possibly being "nicked up," it's time to put CMike on the field.

Seems like against Atlanta (116.2 rush ypg) would be the perfect time to expose our rookie to the NFL.

It's time when Pete and the coaching staff decide it's time

i agree we need to protect wilson but i can't for the life of me fathom how a 3rd string RB factors into that equation.

More concerned about our run defense at this point. Sloppy, crappy play against 2 teams that should not have been able to run that easy.

We're already second in the NFL in rushing attempts. If they wanted to rush even more, wouldn't they just rush Turbin more? They clearly have more trust in him as a back at this point. He's also quietly having a solid season.

Turbin is really good. I agree with that.

He's not a home-run hitter like CMike seems to be, which is why people sleep on him. He's definitely the more complete back, though.

My only thing is that if Lynch is hurt, what happens if he goes down early and can't return? All of our RBs should be at least activated.

How is Michael's blocking? If the coaching staff doesn't trust him to block and only sends him in when it's a run play, doesn't that essentially telegraph our play choice to the opponent?

I agree Michael should at least be active. We were in a dangerous situation on Sunday. However, I'm GUESSING they wanted Jordan Hill active instead due to fatigue on the D-Line after the St. Louis game.

You have been finding a new "reason" to play our unproven rookie running back each and every week since the preseason.

Maybe trust our coaches?

Michael is (almost) looking like a waste of a draft pick at this point. And it pains me to say that, because I really liked what I have seen of him thus far! At this point of the season we have yet to see the multi million dollar, franchise wide reciever we brought in, and our top draft pick sits on the pine every week??? What's the deal? At this point the draft pick may well have been better spent on an Offensive Lineman.

Ok end of excited ramble. Back to waiting patiently for Pete and John to deliver on that Superbowl quest, however they see fit. :3-1:

Michael was clearly a BPA pick combined with a little insurance because Marshawn is getting older. Yeah I guess I like what I've seen from Michael so far, but there's zero rush to get the guy in there. Marshawn is having a great year (that seems to be all he ever does). As far as I'm concerned, if my starting RB produces like Marshawn, the only possible reason I put another RB out there is to spell him, and Turbin can do that.

Also, I see zero connection between Michael and protecting Russell. Lynch is solid at pass pro and they know what they have from Turbin there also. Maybe Michael would do an okay job, but that's hardly a reason to find carries for him over guys who are already doing an okay job.

I will say this: draft-reach or not, I want them to find some OL depth next year somehow. Put the same priority on it as they put on the pass rush, and we'll be fine. It would be crazy this point not to anticipate Okung's annual stretch of missed games, and while I don't expect a backup to be as good as Okung, I think we need to do better than our current options. Good God do we need to do better.

At this point, I think it has to do with his attitude. This is a guy that knows he is talented and i'm guessing he's not being patient with the coaches. Why else would he be inactive? The blocking aspect doesn't make sense to me because half of the o line can't block but they still play every game. On the other hand, it could be part of Bevell's master plan and they are waiting until the playoffs to unleash him.

Half the line can't block, but we don't have guys sitting on the bench who play OL who CAN block. If we did, they'd be playing.

In the case of Michael, if indeed it's a blocking thing (it's all speculation at this point), they have dudes they know can do it.

Seriously? :34853_doh:

The O-line may be struggling, but notice that the coaches aren't putting a line full of rookies in front of Wilson just because the performance so far has been subpar.

On the flip side, Lynch and Turbin pick up their blocks pretty well, and they aren't liabilities as runners. Why take them off the field if (and I have to stress that this is an assumption) Michael can't block?
