I've said it before, Earl Thomas is the single most important player on our team.

The starting QB is the most important player on EVERY team. But Earl is most definitely #2 on our team ,without him we can't play the press coverage man on man style of defense.

Great article.

I agree that he is the 2nd most important player behind Wilson. It's amazing how good we feel about this team now. But I remember 3 circumstances over the last 3-4 weeks when I thought Wilson had a chance of going down to a season ending injury. One happened during the Cardinal's game, when that psycho Abraham jumped on Wilson, swung his weight by kicking his legs into Wilson, and Wilson's knees buckled sideways. It was one of the dirtiest plays I've seen, he then did it to Lynch. In my opinion he was looking to end their seasons. The 2nd was against the Bucs, they kept hitting him in the head, could have caused concussion. The third was again against the Bucs, some guy literally launched himself at Wilson's knees --you could see Wilson looking at the official telling him that the defender came after his knees.

Anyway, any one of those instances could have cost us Wilson. The result would be: season over. However good you're feeling now about the Hawks and a chance at a superbowl, could go up in flames if Wilson is hurt.

Would it also go up in flames if Thomas gets hurt? Possibly, but not to the same degree. The season woujld be over without doubt if Wilson gets injured, with Thomas I would say the Hawks still have a shot, although a much lower one at the Superbowl.

Nice write up, but these points have been discussed widely around here. ;)

Oh, and I'll agree that Thomas is not the MVP of the team, just of the defense.

If Wilson was hurt I dont think the Season would be automatically over. With this defense, special teams and an elite rushing attack I think Tjack can do just enough to win any game.

The most significant difference between TJack and Russell is Russell's ability to lead during crunch time... doing whatever it takes to put his team ahead in the score.

I have yet to see that trait/characteristic in TJack.

I have to ackowledge Thomas, he's a one of a kind type of Safety and he's pretty much the scheme and allows the LoB to play loosely than otherwise.

But I disagree on T-Jack, he has command and respect of his Offensive teammates... I think without a doubt if Tjack had to start he would be a competent starter and while he wouldn't be as great as Wilson, he's very capable of making big plays, leading this Offense, and possibly making same plays Wilson cannot from out of the Pocket.

TJack is a different QB, and this is a different team than what we had in 2011. I'm for one am not in the camp that the Season would be over if Wilson was lost like it would if Thomas were to miss time.
