I don't want to look ahead too far....but I am.

Do people think we can catch the Rangers? I don't see why not. But at the same time, I do think they are the better team than us.

But assuming we don't. Securing a wildcard spot won't be easy. I'm going to assume, one of the WC spots will go to the AL East. Boston and Baltimore should both make the playoffs unless one of them (or both) implode. There are a lot of dangerous teams that are just below us. I think the AL Central will be tough to beat out. The Tigers seem to have things rolling now, and they have one of the best offenses in baseball. I know the Royals are on a big slide, but I won't ever count out the defending world champs. The ChiSox have come back down to earth, but they are very much in it too. I do expect the Indians to win that division, as I think they're the most complete team in the AL Central. I expected Toronto to win that division, and I doubt they go away quietly. That lineup is too good. Surprisingly, their pitching has been their strong point as the offense has struggled.

Can we hold off these teams. And all this is assuming the Astros don't make a run. Which I expect them to do so.

It's a marathon. We had a bad week last week with injuries and the pitchers struggling. The Rangers will get theres, maybe even this week with Darvish and Beltre questionable. IF Rangers lose to Houston tonight and we win then take the next series against the Rangers then we are back in it. Not going to think about wild cards till nearer the time.

Just keep doing our job and not worry about the rest for now as we can't do anything about it.

MLB draft is underway on MLB Network. M's pick 11th, there pick should be coming in the next 10 minutes. Laughed when I saw Jack Z as one of the analysts. Why on earth would MLB Network have this idiot giving insight after each pick. Why don't they ask Jack Z about his draft history with the M's.

OF Kyle Lewis from Mercer. Analysts said he could have been the top pick. Harold Reynolds called him a young Adam Jones.

Looks like a great player. 20 yo, and was the conference POY 2 years in a row, 6'4 195. Hit 395 with 20 hr this year, and a great athlete.

Yeah, sounds like a great pick. Apparently a lot of experts had him as a top 3 pick. Keith Law had him as the #3 player in this draft.

Looks like a great pick, but baseball draft picks are hard to figure out. Dustin Ackley was a #2 pick overall and flopped, Edgar Martinez was an undrafted FA and is a borderline HOF'er.

Doug Baldwin called and said the same goes for football drafts. :)

Aaron Curry also called, he said the same.

Another base running blunder by Cano to end the game. Puts a damper on his great night.

Seager was probably just a few inches from a HR in the first inning, would have changed everything.

Safeco field is terrible. Center field and left field fences too far away, sea level stadium, mid temperature, real grass, etc. Hard to hit homers and gappers.

This year Safeco is near the leaders of stadiums which home runs are hit at believe it or not. It may have been 2nd.
Though that probably has more to do with the team playing in the stadium then the stadium itself.

Yeah I saw that stat last night too

Really weird! I guess since now we have real hitters it doesn't seem as bad. I still think it has contributed to those few years where we had historically bad offenses. Even in 2001 we were better on the road

Kyle Lewis is already signed and will be assigned to the minors. Sweet

You make a good point about the historically bad offenses of the recent past.
I think Safeco WAS too big l, but they originally built it in the steroid era, they have since brought the fences in. The Kingdome was a bandbox and that's why they wanted to make Safeco more "pitcher friendly".

The original plan was 430 feet to CF. I think Griffey at the time talked them out of that distance.

Is this a token gesture like baseball teams signing Russell Wilson or hoping that he is remotely as good as his dad and grandad?

Or is he actually good? I see he mostly plays football for Arizona.

That was just a "ceremonial pick". Trey hasn't played baseball since 2006.

That's what I figured.
