Cisheck fail again. Gives up a game tying homer with two outs in the ninth on a 3-2 count, one freakin' strike away from an Ms win. The additional downside is that it cost his team a two game swing in the standings as they would've been 2 back but after Montgomery grooved a bomb to Odor in the 11th sealing the L, are now 4 back. I simply would never trust this guy to save a playoff or series game. Period.

Is it too early to consider Diaz as the closer? Ball looks like it explodes out of his hand.

Cishek is an okay closer, but unfortunately he seems to have the worst timing in the world for his blown saves. Blown save via the home run seems to be his specialty as well.

It seems like so far in June, the Mariners are losing the kind of agonizing games that they found a way to win in April / May.

Ugh, good game. I thought they had it until Cishek's disaster. His antics are wearing thin. I mean, really? 2 outs, full count on Fielder, and he hits a bomb to tie it up. And last night too. Yeah, we got the W, but if it weren't for those insurance runs in the 8th, it would've gone to extra innings when Moreland hit his homer off Cishek. This team needs to find a good closet, and fast. By the way, everyone is saying Aoki should've been safe on O'Malley's bunt. Was there no conclusive evidence to overturn it, or was it really a bad call and review?

Well it definitely could be worse (Broken Arrow Rodney), but it has to be better. What about Nuno? Do you think he could be closer material? I've always liked his stuff. And he's been our best reliever by far this season. Or what about Zych when he comes back?

I'm thinking a switch at closer would be good. Gah that game sucked.

If Cishek is still the closer come September, the M's will miss the playoffs.

The guy is too erratic outside of the strikezone, when he throws a ball it's a foot or 2 off the plate so the batter lays off it, and when he misses inside the strikezone it's a batting practice meatball.

I've never been a fan of side arm pitchers for this very reason.

I'm not so sure FR in his best years with the M's was this bad.I see FR still is closing for someone and seems to be doing well,I'd sure like to have him right now.

Agree 100%

Cishek is one of the worst closers I've ever seen! Even when we get the W he still gives up runs. I think I've seen him go 1,2,3 one time this year. First game I saw him pitch this year I said to my GF "this guy makes me as nervous as Rodney did". His off the wall mechanics have me on pins and needles everytime he takes the mound. Falls behind hitters 1-0, 2-0 and then he has to battle back into the count. Peeps are blaming the offense for not scoring enough runs, well 1 run is all we needed to win and he blew it. Again. He stinks.

IF WE WANT TO WIN, DONT PUT CISHAK IN!
Put that on a sign and stand above the first base dugout in the 8th

I really really hate the Rangers. I feel we have a better team but don't put it all together when we've played them as of late. And cano gets thrown out at 2nd to end the series... That's just our f'ing luck f word!

Another loss today. Sigh. So they're what 5 back of the Rangers when it could've been 3 if Cishek just had gotten it done last night?

I know it's a marathon, but it feels like chance at the division is slipping rapidly away what with 5 losses in the last 6 vs. Texas.

I hate The Rangers too (Odor the most, he's just a punk) but they're a better team. Hands down.

Ok, can the Mariners DFA Wade? What kind of hurt would that put on the cap? He's pitching worse than his career averages, which are already bad. He's just a toad. He truly outs pitiful.

Miley is on the hot seat for sure. I think when Felix comes back we keep Paxton over Miley, no question.

Cano's baserunning is borderline atrocious. I think Cruz had a shot there, ah well. Texas has our number this year, glad we don't play them much more. 6 more games if I recall.

Sky isn't falling. Playing a weaker Rays team should help us rebound. Hoping for 6 or 7 wins this road trip (@ Tampa/Boston/Detroit)

yeah rangers are the best team in the AL 100%. They hit, pitch, and play great defense.

In other news: "Mariners are 28-15 from Monday to Friday, but 6-14 on Saturday and Sunday"

yikes

They've had some injuries earlier but are getting healthy. Choo is coming of the DL and if Fielder heats up... that lineup is downright nasty.

I've always felt that Paxton would find his way into the starting rotation one way or another. Either through injury or one of the starters struggling. Looks like it will be both. We never would have traded for Miley if we knew Iwakuma would fail his physical with the Dodgers.

As good as our record is (compared to previous years), I don't like how this team is set up for a postseason run. If I had to choose between this team and the team from two years ago, I'd take the 2014 M's in a heartbeat. While the hitting obviously wasn't as good, the pitching was dominant. That 2014 team was on a historical run in terms of pitching. Felix had Cy Young stuff that year. Iwakuma was a top 5 pitcher in the AL. Paxton was dominant. Chris Young was having an out of body experience. Elias was a very good #5.

Postseason in baseball is all about pitching. Just look at the Mets last year. They cruised to the World Series based on nothing but dominant pitching. I'd have little faith in any of our starters in the postseason with the exception being Felix. I'd really like to see the M's go out and get another SP.
