I agree. I feel like Walker needs another pitch, too.
He has three, right? Fastball, curve, and changeup?
I thought you were going to say single, double, and home run. ;)

Awww dang! I totally should've said that! That sums him up. Good one Sutz!

Marte back in the lineup tonight. I think a lot of the recent struggles by the M's can be attributed to the absence of Martin and Marte. Anytime you are without your 1-2 hitters, you are going to take a step back.

Pretty good D, too. Aoki has been, well, adequate in center, but I'll sure like it when Martin is back there again.

Walker has been great tonight. Playing into the 8th inning as well giving the bullpen rest.

Glad to see the starting rotstion turn it around.

He did look great. 11 strikeouts. Chris Iannetta has had a great night as well. Good to see.

Nice to see a redemption game for Iannetta today - after his botched play at the plate on Monday.

Seems like Walker is always either amazing or terrible each night, very little middle ground for him. Even Vincent got two swinging strikeouts so I'm guessing it was a combination of the Indians having an off night and Walker being in command.

It was really great seeing Marte back in the lineup. 2 hits, 2 stolen bases, and 2 runs scored. The dropoff from Marte to Sardinas/O'Malley was pretty damn big.

Just one more game tomorrow and then Martin is back on Friday. Once he's back, the only real question for the Mariners is whether or not their rotation can get on track.

I don't think I can take another game of O'Malley in center field. It will definitely be nice to get some solid defense back and a reliable bat back in the lineup when Martin returns.

Pitching seems to be getting better. Hopefully it continues. :2thumbs:

Hope we win tonight. Rangers dropped a game and darvish and beltre may be hurt for our next series.

Last night skews his numbers somewhat, but all the same, Chris Iannetta is now on pace for 3 WAR. He was only projected to be a 1 WAR player heading into the season.

Leonys Martin is on pace for 6 WAR. He was projected to be a 1.7 WAR player heading into the season.

Nick Vincent has already exceeded his preseason WAR projection with two-thirds of the season left to go.

Nate Karns is on pace for 3 WAR.

There are some under-achievers. Lind, Aoki, and Miley. But they all had small WAR projections to begin with.

At least so far, Dipoto's first free agency period is looking the best by a Mariners GM since Jack Z's earliest days.

In other words, if it seems like this team is several wins better than last year's team, it's because Dipoto created about 10 extra WAR with his free agent moves and trades. It's unrealistic to expect him to be that lucky/good every year, but in 2016 at least, the new GM has been a clear difference maker.

Here's kind of a cool little stat.

There is only 1 team in all of MLB with 3 players that have 40 or more RBI's. The Mariners. No other team has more than 2.

Seager has 40, Cruz has 43, and Cano has been stuck on 48 for about a week now.

I still think having Servais helps. There is a solid batting order and he is consistent on when he'll swap in Dae Ho Lee and Guiterrez. ON top of that he seems to say the right things to players when they are struggling rather than rush them down to AAA to fix something.

Out of curiosity, what do Angels fans think of Dipoto? Where they sad to see him go or relieved? I know he quit as he clashed with Scioscia and the Angels were always going to stick by the guy who won them a world series but was there more to it than that. Did Hamilton and Pujols get thrown on him or was it him that gave those ridiculous contract.

Did he draft Trout?

I don't want to look ahead too far....but I am.

Do people think we can catch the Rangers? I don't see why not. But at the same time, I do think they are the better team than us.

But assuming we don't. Securing a wildcard spot won't be easy. I'm going to assume, one of the WC spots will go to the AL East. Boston and Baltimore should both make the playoffs unless one of them (or both) implode. There are a lot of dangerous teams that are just below us. I think the AL Central will be tough to beat out. The Tigers seem to have things rolling now, and they have one of the best offenses in baseball. I know the Royals are on a big slide, but I won't ever count out the defending world champs. The ChiSox have come back down to earth, but they are very much in it too. I do expect the Indians to win that division, as I think they're the most complete team in the AL Central. I expected Toronto to win that division, and I doubt they go away quietly. That lineup is too good. Surprisingly, their pitching has been their strong point as the offense has struggled.

Can we hold off these teams. And all this is assuming the Astros don't make a run. Which I expect them to do so.
