I'm starting to like this O'Malley kid. Hasn't done much with the bat yet, but seems to make a good utility fielder that can fill in at different spots and get the job done. Looking like the kind of bench player that could be very valuable.
He'll do well for a few games, hopefully Marte won't be put on the DL.

Agreed. They have a guy at Tacoma they're looking at, apparently. Maybe O'Malley finishes this road trip. Marte has been playing well, O and D, so would hate to lose him for an extended period. Injury in on his non throwing hand, so maybe only needs a couple days rest, I hope. Wouldn't want to throw O'Malley in full time right now, I think.

Getting the Leicester City vibe about this team (from being one of the worst to best and not necessarily blessed with tons of elite talent outwith the core guys). Down 3-0. No biggie, come back and have tied the game 4-4. There hasn't been a game they haven't been blown out. They've been in pretty much every one.

Heck even the back up catcher is hitting for them, last year their starting catcher couldn't hit jack.

Clev has been a bit of a pleasant surprise. Solid backup catcher.

brought Chris Taylor back up. Him and O Malley (?) will play for Marte until he's back. We'll be ok. Just need to start playing better at home.

18-7 on the road is insane

Good win. Too bad the M's offense doesn't bail out Felix like they did Miley today. Most of the time they don't need to but when he's having one of those outings they seem to have no offense. Miley gives up 4 runs in 6 innings of work and the M's still win.

The Astros are 0-6 vs the Rangers so far this year, and 3-4 against the Mariners. If the Astros didn't exist, the Mariners would have a 4 game lead in the division right now.

I hate the Astros. Even when they are terrible they still find a way to cost Seattle games in the standings.

How I loathe the Astros even more now. They are to the Mariners what the Rams are to the Hawks - pesky.

We knew the AL West was going to be tough this year. Looks like it will be a battle among Rangers, Angels, and Ms. I bet the standings late September will be real close among at least two of these teams, hopefully one being the Ms.

Sweep the As at home, then I'll start getting really excited.
Considering their issues playing at home, I'd be happy with 2 out of 3.

Agreed, especially as they swept us at home earlier in the year.

Yeah, I'm not big on elevating expectations into the stratosphere just yet. ;)

Hell, in a 162 game season, this next series is not "critical" for the standings. There is some psychology here, though, kind of like why in the hell do the bats go quiet when Felix is on the mound? But sweep? That's a lot to ask for. We do have to break this "lose at home" crap, though.

It is a long haul. As has been said before, every team will win 60 games and lose 60 games - it's what they do with the 42 in the middle that determines the season.

On this home stand of 8 games, I'll be satisfied if they go 5-3. Try to stay at .500 at home, and pile up wins on the road.

If they play .500 for the rest of the season, they will end up 9 over - about 90 wins.

If anything it's been fun to watch. Some days i'm excited about the potential of this team- this season and in future. Other times i'm down on the team and the down part is unfair as it hasn't happened yet.

I just worry that we haven't put space between us and the Rangers and that we'll play solid until September and blow it during those final divisional games and end up crushed.

Pesky Rangers - however, they've been playing Houston. Now they face the Angels and Pirates. I expect them to drop a few and if Mariners continue to win series, you'll see some separation.
Did I hear that the Rangers are building a new stadium?
