Miller had the talent. And he flashed production at times. I'm not surprised by his post-Mariners success, the same way I wasn't surprised by Michael Saunder's success in Toronto. But there is only a finite amount of patience, even for talented players. Miller and Saunders used up all their patience with the Mariners org. They needed a change of scenery, like so many other ex-mariners who broke out.

Marte is probably a 2-3 WAR level player if healthy and gets decent BABIP luck, but he's slumping this year and has been injured a ton. Marte's current .313 BABIP is one of the best on the team, but consider that his BABIP last year was an Ichiro-esque .345 and Marte's line drive rate actually improved in 2016, but those balls have found more gloves for whatever reason. I'm definitely not giving up on Marte after a season like this that screams bad luck. That said, it would be nice if he walked more.

Similarly, I hope Seattle gives Nate Karns another chance. He's been pretty unlucky as well.

Great win last night. Another really good outing for Felix.

I agree with Kearly that it is hard to imagine one division producing three 90+ win teams.

No doubt Marte is struggling. But like ThePeelSessions mentioned, I don't get all the love Marte gets. My guess is people gravitate towards him because he is one of the few young farm system guys that has looked decent in a long time. Until he starts to produce, we need more O'Malley.

Lets go Miranda, just give us an opportunity for a win. If he goes 5-6 innings and only gives up 3 runs I'll be happy.

What am I missing here? Dipoto made him the cornerstone of that trade. Yes, he was the most consistent starter for the team for the first month, but he's only gotten past the fifth inning once (maybe twice). There's a reason his name is Five Innings Karns, the pitcher formerly known as Nathan Karns. He quickly became the worst starter along with Miley, and was eventually moved to the bullpen, with the hope that it would be a good move for him. But, he somehow managed to struggle dramatically more out of the pen. And now he's on the DL. Serious question, but how has he been unlucky? Was he pitching through injury? From everything I saw, he brought all this misfortune upon himself.

I don't understand the short leash that Marte is on. He is struggling right now though. I think our outfield needs to be overhauled badly. I am getting tired of watching Martin. I love him in center field but his hitting is atrocious. Aoki is not good in LF and his hitting is average. Cruz is an awesome bat but is hard to watch in RF.

Karns BABIP luck and low strand rate that have made his numbers look a lot worse than they should. He's a solid #5 starter with average luck. Can't say the same for Wieland, and probably not for Miranda either.

Not saying I expect it to happen, but if Karns ever puts together a season with low walks he's going to be really good. You could say he's in the same boat that JA Happ was in last year. Happ has been enjoying a monster season this year in Toronto.

When will Aoki learn? He has been thrown out 9 times trying to steal this year and has been successful 6 times. Terrible. Aoki.... You are the worst base runner in baseball please stop trying to steal. If you get on first, stay there until the ball is in play. Please. Please stop trying to steal. Thanks.

Wild game tonight. Back and forth.

That one inning by the Angels where they had two errors and two wild pitches basically sums up their season.

He is deceivingly slow. Manny Acta needs to put up the red light signal every time he reaches 1st.

Top of the 9th upcoming, time for another clutch come from behind win? Knock on wood....

Well that sucked. Three backbreaking home runs, all of them barely got out. The Mariners stranded a ton of runners at 3rd base. All adds up to a 1 run loss.

Would be nice if Servais leaned on his starters less. I know the bullpen had an off night, but it was a bad move leaving in Miranda to face the two mariner killers in their lineup for the 3rd time. Should have pulled him early and gone straight to Wilhelmsen at that point. Servais need to realize that Seattle is in the fight of their lives to make the playoffs, and to make it they need a manager who will adopt an aggressive playoff game mentality with his bullpen rest of season. Not just do things conservative and hope for the best.

And with Vincent, nothing against the guy, but you just knew that if Pujols hit ANYTHING into play it would leave the yard. Least surprising backbreaking HR in a while. Pujols isn't having a great season, but he's killing it with RBI. He saves his homeruns for when they really, really hurt.

Caminero comes crashing back down to earth. Will this be another Cishek story where it obliterates his confidence? Either way, I put this loss on Nick freaking Vincent. My gosh, that was just awful. Awful. He's another guy that's been given a longer Leash than he deserves. He needs to be shown the door. He's not that good. At all. His ERA before this game doesn't tell the whole story.

Vincent's been pretty good. Those two HRs he served up barely got out. HR's happen and are mostly random for pitchers.

To catch Texas Seattle will probably have to sweep their head to head games OR Texas completely collapses despite playing a fairly easy schedule, which doesn't seem likely to me.

Right now all the other wildcard teams are refusing to lose which is annoying. But next month they are going to be beating each other up. You probably won't see three 90+ winning teams from one division. Seattle just needs to stay focused and aim for 90+ and the rest should take care of itself.

Tonight's loss stung given the Paxton bad news. Hate to say it but I think that boneheaded decision by Servais to keep Paxton in the 9th probably cost Seattle a handful of wins they can't afford.

Tough loss. It is a 162 game season, bad teams have to win at some point. I'm not too upset, the game was basically a pick'em in Vegas. I don't think Servais left Miranda in too long. He was cruising up until that point, he yanked him at the right time (after two two consecutive walks).

On a good note, Houston, Detroit and Baltimore lost. At this point, I feel pretty confident in Baltimore coming back down to earth. They have struggled in the second half of the season, and they're paying for their below average starting pitching.

How many Ws has the decision by DiPotio/Servais to stay with Cishek as the closer for far too long cost this team? If the Ms miss the playoffs by a game or two, I'm putting it on that decision first and foremost.

^^^ If we miss the playoffs I will give due credit to having been smoked by both Texas teams early on in the season.
