Can't believe there is not 1 pitcher in AA-AAA who cannot perform..Tim would have been a perfect pick up in this scenerio because I have no faith in Miley or Karns..Hope the bats have a lot more left in them.Moves are coming whether we are buyers/sellers..I just don't know how we are going to buy

Well Miley certainly pitched his ass off today but the one guy we had pitched better,it seems like we always get beat by ex Mariners who didn't play like that in Seattle.

When you say Tim, I'm assuming you are referring to Til Lincecum. If you haven't noticed, he has been awful this year, and hasn't been good in quite some time. Just a couple days ago he gave up 8 earned runs in 1.1 innings. So no, we don't want Lincecum, he is worst than Miley and Karns.

Apparently the Marlins are interested in Wade Miley.

Benoit has been traded for drew storen of the bluejays

I like that from the Mariners perspective. Both guys are struggling this year but Benoit is 38 so it could be that he has lost it. Storen is 28 so it's more likely for him to have just hit a rough spell. A change of scenery could be good for both guys.

We also got some cash most likely to even out the salaries since storen is paid more than benoit.

4.5 games out of the 2nd wild card, a full 5 from the first, with 3 teams in between them. They are right there, if they can start to push a run together.

So... buyers, sellers or stand pat? With a new GM and manager it will be interesting to see what they do.

Only 6 games behind Texas in the division as well. Problem is we have sucked against AL West opponents this year. If we could just beat Texas, Houston, Anaheim we'd be right in there.

Like the trade for Storen, the guy probaly will like the change of scenery and it wasn't that long ago he was one of the main Nationals relief pitchers.Still there is a lot of work to do before we pump up the playoff volume

We aren't going to win the West. I still think the Astros win the division, and you'll likely need 90 wins for the division. We aren't getting to 90. The second wild card is still possible, but not very likely. The teams ahead of us are simply better than us, and I expect most of them to be buyers.

It's simple, we just aren't as good as the three teams in the AL East (Boston, Baltimore, Toronto), and we aren't as good as the two other teams in our division. The Tigers are about on par with us, but I think they even have a better team than us. With 63 games left in the season, I think we'd have to go 38-25 to make the playoffs. What makes anyone think this team can win at a 60% clip?

Probably just cause of the early season form where we were double digits over .500. It gave a lot of hope on what this team could be when the bull pen and starting pitching stayed strong. Felix would need to get it together though.

Down 10-1. After the Cubs put us out of our misery, all talk about the M's and the playoffs should be over with. Anyone who thinks this team can make the playoffs needs a reality check.
