Cant help but feel that nelson cruz will be gone before the deadline to a desperate team, possibly smith as well.

I dont think anyone touches canos contract right now but if we dont make the play offs this year I think we deal felix and consider dealing cano if someone wants him at that point.
Hate to say this but we have the oldest team in baseball.Thats never the honor to have when you have very little in the minors. We may very well trade Cruz,Smith and others because you have to have talent from ground up to have a run of playoff years.Imagine if we just get a bunch of good prospects/draft well we can get strong. The core isn't that bad and I understand people are tired of waiting but the ownership/FO are different.Whats a couple more years? It's been how long?

I believe Dipoto has set the table for the departure of Lind at the deadline.

This is what I have been hearing as well. He's a free agent after this season and his numbers are really pretty poor other than his 15 HR's, so I really don't expect to get much.

Vogelbach is 3-3 (HR, 2B, 1B) and is a triple away from the cycle in his Tacoma debut tonight.

Great pitching by Paxton and a nice win.I just read that Hultzen is done pitching, thats too bad I had high hopes for him before he got hurt. The shoulder is a funny thing because some heal but others never do.

Other than trading a position of weakness on the current Mariner team, the Montgomery trade means that Wade Miley sticks on the team longer. That is extremely disappointing. The M's don't need additional hitters, they need better pitchers (at least ones who can pitch at a high level consistently). This is what is hurting the team this year. Hitting has been improved but the pitching has gone to crap.

Taijuan Walker is apparently almost ready. Hell, Paxton has thrown a couple of gems now. He looks pretty solid. We could have a fair to decent front four for the home stretch. The Rangers and the 'Stros are both playing more back to earth ball lately and we're only about 6 games out of the div lead in late July. Not a totally bad position to be in if we can pound out a few more wins.

Perhaps things are not quite as glum as the seem. Vogelbach will probably be a roster expansion add in a few weeks, adding another potentially live bat to the lineup.

Frankly, I'd hate to start dismantling the team right now to launch a 2-3 year rebuilding project. Felix doesn't have a lot of years left to win a pennant and a ring. I'd hate to see him do it elsewhere.

We may be able to make a run but do we have enough to get far?SP is a very hot thing right now,we can get very young pitchers and hitters that are ranked high in trades.I think anyone not named Diaz,Paxton,Walker,Martin,Martel, and Seager can be traded off(Cano would be but that contract scares off people).I don't see a choice and it's going to be worse next year if we sit pat.

That is now three really good outing in a row for Iwakuma. Paxton has looked good. Who knows, maybe the starting pitching can come together here in the second half. If we can get Walker back soon, then we won't need Miley as a SP. I'd assume the team would rather use LeBlanc as the #5 over Miley.

I still think if we ever want to make a serious run at a World Series, this team will need to add a stud pitcher. Chris Sale will be available, but only in a fantasy world we get him. But someone like him could put us over the top. It looks like Sale will be the only big name pitcher that will be available at the deadline, unless you consider Rich Hill as a star (I don't). I kind of think one of the AL East teams lands him (if he does get moved before the deadline).

On a side note, good to see Aoki back and hitting well. We also got pretty lucky by avoiding Toronto's two best SP's, Stroman and Aaron Sanchez.

Lock ^^^^, why do I have the feeling Miley would stay in the rotation over LeBlanc?

I really hope not, but you might be right.

EDIT: Well seeing that LeBlanc just came in to relieve Iwakuma, it looks like they expect Walker back for his next start, meaning Miley is the #5 (he's starting tomorrow). Ugh.... :?

Either way, we're talking the #5 guy I think. :229031_shrug:

Miley is trash. Might as well try the young kid LeBlanc or try Karns again. MIley is what he is. A guy that is going to give up 4+ runs in about 5-6 innings.

Agree but apparently DiPito does not.
