Any chance they get rid of the clear bad policy. Such a pain in the ass.
What that be?
Awesome for Schmetzer, and good timing. I said management needed to do this during the playoffs to give everyone the piece of mind and momentum this would create.
Meant clear bag. I usually have to carry my work computer to and from work in a backpack. It means I can't take it to the game anymore.
I have a friend who is fairly high up in a large security firm that does a lot of contracting for major sporting events in Texas. He told me the bag policy has absolutely nothing to do with safety, in fact, there are no studies that show the clear bag policy is any safer than allowing normal bags. There is, however, a great deal of evidence that shows the most dangerous place at sporting events are those waiting to get into the stadium, and after you've left the stadium, places that anyone can have a normal bag / weapon or whatever.
According to him, the reason the clear bag policy was instituted, was to keep people from bringing their own food and beverages into the game to consolidate profits. That was hard to do when you allowed people to bring purses or backpacks into games. In other words, this was all done under the illusion of safety, to maximize profits.
He could be full of crap but it makes sense. So, I doubt the policy is going anywhere :\ I do think it's fair to ask the organizations who are instituting these policies to provide evidence from a non-biased source that these policies are actually doing what they claim, and maybe show us the before and after on their concession profits... which is probably where the truth lies.
