Sounders will make roughly 600k from Yedlins sale. It will most likely be re-invested in the youth system.

Torres getting called up isn't really a big issue.

Goal Line technology will be in MLS within 2 seasons. Quote me on it.

Schmetz made the right call with the line up last night. He rested the right players and got a result.

Listening to schmetzer talk about his team is magical. I highly suggest you watch his interviews.
I've watched his interviews. I like him as a person, I think he's a great dude, he's the perfect spokesperson for the team and the community.

His tactics and substitutions are my biggest question marks. Maybe Uncle SI or someone with a bit more tactical insight can give me a different perspective, but I haven't seen anything special from him. I think Caleb Porter showed a glaring weakness in his tactical approach, and talent bailed us out in that game. This weekend will be another test. I hope I am wrong.

If we have a shot at Pellegrini, Schelotto, or Bradley.... I think right now I lean towards those guys.

He's a safe pair of hands right now which is what we badly needed. Lets give him to the end of the season at the very least and take it from there. He's at least gave us hope again for the play offs and possibly actually doing something in the play offs.

Bradley would be a great shout.

As for Schmetzer... he's getting results. he's done a great job of integrating Lodeiro and allowing play to continue to roll through him. the others are benefiting and (dare I say) showing they are much better than their previous performances reflected. Amazing what one talented CAM can do in this league. I didn't watch enough of the game to see his subs play a role.

Porter has been thumbing his nose at standard tactical deviations for some time now. Not sure if he's bored, tired or simply arrogant. He's got his ring syndrome maybe? He rolled his team out expecting them to run over Seattle as they did Sporting in the match before, not recognizing the glaring differences in those two teams. He got what he deserved really.

Dempsey will be held out Sunday as he is currently being evaluated for a irregular heartbeat.

Porter is the american Mourinho... only no one wants him.
I agree with you, but I feel like he laid the beginnings of the blue print to stop Lodeiro. Stay tight and compressed in the middle, force the ball out wide, let Seattle push numbers forward, exploit their transition defense on the counter. They gave Lodeiro space near the center circle, but pressed and suffocated him every where else, whilst fouling the ever loving crap out him.

The Dempsey news is really worrisome. It's hard to say without knowing the details, but a heart beat irregularity can be a sign of athletic heart syndrome, which is what ended Eddie Johnson's career. Dempsey IMO is the best American soccer player in history, and I would hate for this to be the end.

Get well Deuce.

Final match with Portland today. A Seattle win will see them jump past San Jose and the Timbers into the 6th & final playoff spot.

Evans and mears are having an absolute shocker.

Midfield is getting over run.

Still dont understand why we rested players mid week. This game was always far harder to win.

Kind of saw this coming after the game last week. Porter has pretty thoroughly exposed Schmetzer, and Schmetzer doesn't seem to have an answer.

Flaco and Ivanschitz together are a terrible combination. I said it about Valdez mid-week, I'll say it about Morris now. You cannot play these guys up top alone without another forward. Flaco doesn't stay high enough, Ivanschitz does a good job staying wide, but you are leaving Morris on an island 3v1.

I know Valdez hasn't been productive, but you need to have another forward up top. Portland is exploiting the transition like I predicted, and without someone to hold the ball up, Morris will continue to be a non-factor.

This is 100% on Schmetzer. He didn't adapt and change the system for this game, and it's costing us dearly.

Says it all that we pay valdez a decent wage and he doesnt play. Guy is finished as a sounder. Get rid now and get someone else in to step up for missing dempsey.

I don't think it says anything. You need to start another forward up top. I don't care who that forward is.

Not disagreeing but even when valdez came on he did zero. We can sulk about dempsey possibly being finished or we can get our finger out and bring in a competent partner for Morris.

Second half defense should be the same for the rest of the season barring maybe dropping jones at points. I dont want to see mears pkay again or evans at cb ever. Flacco stunk as well.

Without one of the two, Dempsey and Lodeiro, the Sounders seem lost.

Maybe, IMO this was a trap match for us.

We expended a LOT of energy the last two weeks with beating Portland the first time, then flying all the way to Houston mid week..............while the Timbers laid low at home waiting. Then Dempsey's health news just made things worse.

But yes, if Clint gets some bad news and he's out the rest of the year? Then it might be the end of the good run towards one of the last playoff seeds. Not sure we'd have the offense to keep the scoring going without him.

Just feels like a gut punch after that first half. We were so close to getting that play off spot and crapped the bed in the first half. Second half we had some pride but we are in a bit of a hole again. Same with the Mariners, touching distance and blow it.

I'm worried we are going to struggle to score without Dempsey. We struggled a ton for goals without Martins and it took a coach and Lodeiro to get the best out of Dempsey and Morris. With no timeline for his return we've got to get someone. We're still close but I don't want to go in to these tough games with just Valdez and/or Gomez to partner/support Morris. Both look finished in my opinion.

I'm hoping that's the defense solidified till the end of the season with Torres, Marshall, Evans at RB. Torres played surprisingly good for a guy who hadn't kicked a ball in a year in a game.

I agree, the good teams will be able to get numbers on Lodeiro to corral him without Dempsey also causing problems.

Obviously wish the best for Clint, but damn if this wasn't making it's way to being one of the more exciting seasons up until the bad news.

I feel bad for Dempsey especially in this situation which he has no control over but it always feels like he is injured or playing for the national team when we need him most. SO frustrating.

If we were smart, surely we could get a decent striker on loan in the next few days since they are on cheap wages and most parent clubs would pay it. Are there any good youngsters in the Premiership reserve/youth squads that need experience and games for 6 months as they can't quite get in the first team yet? Man City and Chelsea always seem to have some (as they stock pile the best young players but can't develop them due to the stars in the first team) but guessing the City players would end up at NYCFC. Doesn't even need to be as high a level as the EPL, just some promising player that we can loan till we get out of this current jam and then we can fix our DP situation in the off season.

If we were smart? The MLS window is closed, we cannot add any more players.
