Looks like a fee agreed with Man City for Samir Nasri. Yes!!!!

Don't see that anywhere. (now i see it. Twellman's twitter)

He just got back from a long injury like yesterday I think.

Would be an interesting signing for the Sounders and the MLS. His wages are massive at City.

Seattle signed their first pick from January's Superdraft, CB Tony Alfaro. They've also loaned CB Damian Lowe to Minnesota United.

http://www.soundersfc.com/post/2016/03/ ... ony-alfaro

They also traded general allocation cash for targeted allocation cash and an international roster spot. Which again, tells us they're going hard after a DP before May.

Nasri's a pipe dream, he just signed an extension in 2014 for like 11M a year. But that is the kind of attacking DP mid I think we're going after.

I think Nasri to the MLS would be interesting. Does have some injury issues (and some attitude issues) but his quality is something the league really hasn't seen yet... atleast at his age (28).

I don't know how he fits into Seattle, though. Nasri is a winger, albeit tucked in. He's not a CAM perse, but one that can play left or right attacking mid. He's a David Silva, Coutinho, Alexi Sanchez/Ozil, Hazard type of "winger".

If he does indeed join, i'd really love to see the Sounders play with two up top and a tight diamond (Dempsey, Nasri and Ivanischitz as the three high midfielders).

Either way... rooting for this one. He's on high wages, as mentioned, so if City want rid (and if they do, why not to their MLS affiliate?) maybe they would take on some of his wages. It's not like they struggle for cash. Just raise gas prices a penny in the Seattle area for a day or so.

I guess it's possible, Roma paid all of Cole's salary save for 300k just to get rid of him to the Galaxy.

But then again it's the Galaxy, Garber makes sure the Galaxy have at least 5-6 DP's under their salary cap each year under the guise of the league's sorry no one can see how we cook our books non-transparency policy.

From Sounder at Heart (whatever that is)

Samir Nasri's name was also floating around on Twitter, but that was the product of a hoax that snared several prominent accounts.

Pirlo, Lampard, Villa.

No room for Nasri type money on the books.

Weren't all three of these player's contracts expired?.........and Lampard and Villa were already being paid by the Man City ownership group, so I'd assume that transition over to NYFC is much easier to figure out compensation when you're already paying the player.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love Nasri, but he's only 27 and his annual salary would be more than even Kaka.

God we give away some really really crappy goals at the worst times. Why was Lyon not playing instead of the rookie, apart from one save he was suspect. 4-3-3 aint working.

We also need better quality of the bench than Roldan, Jones and usually Kovar. Jones need to spend time developing in S2, I think he has some tools but at this point neither him or the others are going to change a game.

If you're referring to Joevin Jones, I thought he was one of Seattle's best players today. Roldan was decent as well.

Darwin Jones. Agreed Joevin Jones played well today.

Well, I couldn't have imagined a worse start to the season than 0-2 with a ton of injuries.

It's insanely obvious that Oba was the motor to this team, both workrate wise but also creatively. Now we look like just another middle to bottom table direct rudimentary MLS club that has very little quality anywhere on the pitch.

Hercules Gomes is training with us. Still need a creative force in midfield though. Also what happened with Chen who was on trial? I think we need him until Torres comes back.

Chen left without a contract.

I was into Gomez..................about five years ago when he still had some legs. What happened to "a young attacking mid type DP?"

If we're signing Gomez and getting rid of Valdez and his ridiculous 1.25M salary, then I'm all for it. But if it's just to add another aging overpriced forward? No thanks.

Morris and Valdez got hurt in the last match. Valdez's injury looked more serious, so Gomez may be a replacement for him if he is out. Experience wise the Sounders are thin at forward. They have Valdez and Dempsey, that's it. Jones, Morris, and all are young inexperienced guys. They could use another experienced guy on top especially if the injury bug hits them.

Gomez isn't a DP level player, and won't be paid like one either. He's a guy that fills an immediate need for us, which is an attacking player with experience.

With Toronto still paying his salary from his last contract with them, we should be able to sign him on the cheap (Vet Min).

Signing Gomez does not jeopardize the ability to get a young attacking DP, or experienced attacker...or both.

As for rumors about who we are getting, the Sounders head scout has been in France the past 2 weeks taking in both games from Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. Not sure if its routine or tracking specific players.

I would say that outside of Dempsey in the home leg of the CCL, Jones has been our best player in the other 3 games we have played.
